Kidnapped by SCP-049

Показать описание
SCP 049 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as The Plague Doctor.

SCP-049 is contained within a Standard Secure Humanoid Containment Cell in Research Sector-02 at Site-19. SCP049 must be sedated before any attempts to transport it. During transport, SCP-049 must be secured within a Class III Humanoid Restriction Harness (including a locking collar and extension restraints) and monitored by no fewer than two armed guards.

While SCP 049 is generally cooperative with most Foundation personnel, outbursts or sudden changes in behaviour are to be met with elevated force. Under no circumstances should any personnel come into direct contact with SCP-049 during these outbursts. In the event SCP-049 becomes aggressive, the application of lavender (L. multifida) has been shown to produce a calming effect on the entity. Once calmed, SCP-049 generally becomes compliant, and will return to containment with little resistance.

This story reminds me a lot of Edgar Allen Poe's Masque of the Red Death.
A wealthy, powerful man revels in his home with his rich friends, convinced nothing can harm him. Then a mysterious uninvited guest in a mask arrives, bringing death in his wake.
Even the failed attempt to unmask him is in both stories.

It really does strike me just how much 049 is, well he's a genuinely good person, he's just completely delusional. If you take away the anomalous aspect, he's a doctor who's given up everything so he can wander the globe and personally attempt to eradicate a infectious disease.

That man was the real SCP. He's able to bring his mouth in and out of existence at will and teleport it. Someone call the nearest containment site 😳 4:03 - 4:08

I’m convinced that this “pestilence” 049 refers to is actually fear.

i love tales from different corners of the scp universe like this
just random people unaware of the foundation, getting roped into a "wacky" scp adventure.
i'd love to see more stuff like this!

SCP-049 casualy goes to a party and infects everyone in it and basically kidnaps a billionär and then infects him. Thats why he is my favourite SCP.

“You start to feel like nothing can touch you”
Scp 049: *You sure about that?*

I wish there was an alternate version, where instead of running he helps the doctor, and they find a better cure than what makes people into “zombies” and he becomes a respected physician by many and not just the hand of death

4:05 - 4:08 That caviar must've been really good if his mouth traveled on and off his face just to eat it...

That was pretty cool, I wonder what would have happened if the billionaire actually went through on his deal, what would’ve happened? I’d love to see another episode based on this question it would be very intriguing to see. Would he find the cure? And be able to show mankind the invisible disease? Would mankind even like what they see when they find out what it is? Like if the pestilence was for example, Free will?

I'm wondering if this story is a reference to "The Masque of the Red Death" by Edgar Allen Poe. Some elements are similar-- it focuses on a masquerade thrown by a wealthy man during a plague that is killing everyone, and the masquerade is thrown to distract the wealthy people from all the death even though they know exactly what's going on. It's a pretty interesting story, there's 7 rooms all decorated in one color with the last being all red but no one wants to go in there and every time the clock rings out the hour everyone stops until it stops. It ends with a strange plague doctor (or they might be dressed as a plague victim, can't remember, been a while since i read it) entering and proceeding through each room until he reaches the wealthy man who confronts him and attacks him, but immediately falls over dead from the disease. From there, everyone else tries to confront the interloper and rip off his mask but he vanishes like he was never there.

If this is intended to be a reference, I wonder if perhaps, by looking at it through this view, we could guess that maybe the pestilence is selfishness and a callousness to others? I know that it's a little loose, but still interesting, at least to me.

Could pestilences be deceit? Many people in the party are just using a facade to cover what they really are. Maybe that’s why when SCP-049 arrived at Site-19 he said that they did pretty well with the pestilence, as the Foundation tries to hold truth to their ideals and scientific approach to anomalies contained.
