We tried recovering the abandoned boat but RAN INTO TROUBLE!

Hi all 👋 Last week, we decided to reclaim more of our garden space by pulling out what had been hiding in the brambles all this time..... an abandoned fibreglass hull boat on a trailer.

But what didn't help was everything had seized up and it was full to the brim with backbreaking stuff.... so much so, we needed to get help.

As an owner of boats for over fifty years, I am afraid it's sailing days are over. If tidied up nicely, it could be a cosy sleep over for guests. Other than that, a garden feature, hen house or see if someone would take it away for free. Well done on all your hard effort to free it from nature.

Build a raised deck on a couple of levels around the boat and make it a bbq/party area . Would be a great novelty thing to have on your land.

Great video. I've only just found your channel today. I've watched a fair few on this bank holiday. I love your enthusiastic energy.

Finally a English language that I can clearly understand without using the translation.
Thank you for this video.⛵

Vikki - unless you have a vision of using this fibreglass shed on land - I would give someone £100 to take it away, as soon as possible. To restore this boat so it is safe to to use at sea is going to cost you thousands and divert thousands of man hours. To use safely as an inland waterway craft is going to cost you slightly less but still many hundred of man hours. If it is your passion to get afloat there are much cheaper and less labour intensive ways of doing so.

PS: After saying all of that you could cut off the deck and use it as a big grow bag - it has demonstrated its growing credentials already.😉🤣

Nothing more expensive than a free boat

I've sailed all my life and owned many boats. Your boat is a great candidate for someone who has the time to restore her to her former glory. The restoration would be for love because, as others have said, its not economically viable. To buy a suit of sails for it would probably increase the value of the boat to half the cost of the sails! Loved the video of you extracting it though - thanks for sharing the experience with us.

If it was me, I'd make it into a garden feature. Plant blue and white flowers around the bottom to represent waves. I'd build a deck on the top with a few seats, side table and lighting so you and Mr TCD can enjoy warm evening relaxation and watch the sun set. I think it would cost thousands to restore it to the point of putting it on open waters.

So exciting to find a boat like that on your land, it's crying out to be restored!
You are lucky to have plenty of space, so it won't cost you anything to store it for now.
If it was me, I would dry it out, get a tarp over it and put it out the way for now, while you get to where you want to be with your other projects on the house and garden. You can take your time to decide if it is a project you want to take on and could always sell it much later on, if you decide against it.

You both did well getting that uncovered and cleaned up, it looks fab how about putting in the water for wild life birds ducks etc, obviously get it water tight and ready first thanks Vikkie for the upload 😊

you said exactly what I was thinking - right at the end - cut it in half - create a Beach theme zone with loads of rocks and ropes and have the boat sunk partly in the ground with bench seating inside - a gorgeous chill out zone :) x what a fabulous boat loved this :)

I found a 28 ft. Sailboat on craigslist that I just had to put new tires on the trailer it was sitting on. I cut away all the brambles and cleared out the rain water inside. Hauled it 50 miles home and am working to refit the boat. I also had to remove a foot of compost out of the cockpit. I'm looking forward to many happy days of sailing. ⛵ 🐬 🏝️ 🙂

If you can't salvage it you can have a really fancy decking/seating area by the lake. It's already themed for you! 😁

Hi vikki there may be a bung near the bottum of boat or a drain hole that may be blocked up put a screwdriver up it may open it so water will drain out .i cover it over and when you do the house and garden then you have a nice project to do

Our fmily owned a few fishing boats and occasionally one might get into trouble and get beached. to drain out any water that may have been shipped, we simply used a 3 meter length of 20mm poly pipe and siphoned the water out. It worked on one which was 65 ' long. it would be easy for you to do that and you can leave it there incase it gets another load of water. The siphon will work by itself .

I would have it as my pond boat . One of a kind spare room .
