Combo sets are common on the professional golf tours but where should you make the transition from the higher launching more forgiving long iron into the shot shaping flight control players iron.

Been using the 2019 Taylormade’s m2 irons hot off the face definitely. As iv gotten better over the years noticed can’t keep iron approach shots on greens they run off. Think I’ll need to upgrade set to a less spin iron set

I’ve got a fitting in 5 days and spoke to the Pro when I was booking it in.
As long as he doesn’t fit me into other irons which are undeniably better for me, I’ll be going with the 770/P7CB combo set, crossing over at the 6 iron

I played with G430s for the past year+, and switched to a 770/7CB combo set (5-7 in 770, 8-pw in CB). I played my first round with them today, and I know I’m still in the honeymoon phase, but they felt so good. Also, it was nice to be able to fade the ball reliably again. The offset is much more suited for me.

Trott plays traditional KBS Tour like a boss. As a blade player was blown away by the compact nature of the new 770 and even considered a full set, but the PW and 9 iron are quite thick. Can't be looking at that when I'm flag hunting.

Now I want to buy a full set of P-7CB and a full set of P-7TW to build combo sets out of lol thanks Trottie (maybe a video on CB+TW? 😉)

I got fitted a couple days ago! 4, 5, and 6 in the 770 and 7-PW in the CB. The feel is absolutely unmatched. I’ve never felt anything like it!

Ahhhh Trott!!! The ultimate squad is:
P7TW 5-P w/ weak lofts & DG x100s (ultimate in flighting and spin control).  
Pre-wear the leading edge w/ weak lofts adding bounce.
After you try it, you'll recognize a different 'thump' and turf interaction.

Tour rescues in the long irons and/or p770 in the mid and/or long

Substitute squad members as needed.

The bottom line is: No one is accurate from 190yds+

Thoughts on a 770/790 combo? I’m sure the loft would need tweaked to reduce the gap but man, it would be lovely to play 770 P-7 and 790 6-4

All this is great - but most suppliers only hold and fit one iron (usually 7) with no ability for the customer to try the full set

If someone wanted to combo the 770s with the 790s for long club forgiveness roughly how would you adjust for that scenario? Let’s say 5/6 iron 790s

This is the exact question I am struggling with right now. I transitioned from hockey/baseball to golf. 98mph 7 iron club speed. I am putting that in here because I feel that I am improving very quickly. As someone who did not grow up in golf I don’t have any info to go off of when the fitter asks what do I like. I’m in uniflex rn just shooting myself in the foot rn hovering around a 5 HC. Are the 770s still a good club if my goal is to shoot even par this year? Or would I get flyers from the hollow body with my high swing speed?

Hello, I am a Korean golfer. Is it a good combo to have P770 4-6 iron and P7CB 7-P iron? I am worried that the gap between 6-7 irons will be too big. Thank you for the great video.

Do you think spin at 6000 to 7000 is a bit overrated as 6 k spin in air for 4 -5 seconds is 100 revs per sec compared to 7 k spin is 116 per sec do you think 16 revs make that much difference 🤔
