Ranking the 2024 F1 teams after pre-season testing

It’s our favourite time of year, when we emerge from the settling dust of pre-season testing to take a stab at ranking the 10 Formula 1 teams ahead of the new campaign.
This is based on a number of factors including but not limited to what we saw trackside, how the long run data looked, and where the teams themselves think they are shaking out.
We’ve talked to loads of drivers and senior figures, crunched the numbers and yes, made some educated guesses, to come up with this ranking.

When a team's self spoken highlights are future upgrades as opposed to the present, they are in trouble no doubt about it. It implies their current car is not working as expected and definitely not as hoped for.

Can you cover the new WEC season ? A new set of rules and loads of new car, an easier pack to follow, with many GT3 cars, and the Hyperclass battle, with new works team, private team. It's eye catching and the WEC channel is doing a lot to hype this season

Sauber F1 was extraordinary theoughout the pre testing, they ranked 3rd everytime in pre testing, wait for the season to start, Sauber returns to podium this year

What gets me is that teams have worked some time on the cars and then it seems that some underperform significantly ...🤔

I'll bet my money on Sauber. Their car may not be the best at the beginning of the season but I would love to see James Key lead the team to improve the car throughout the season and prove that he was not the problem at McLaren. This is my hopium)

As Lewis will be cut off from Mercedes and Sainz at Ferrari sometime this season, the negative impact of the Horner issue on RBR wins could level each other out, potentially providing McLaren the opportunity to win races. McLaren could be the 2nd team with Lando challenging Max for a race win.

There is a video just released of Verstappen driving the RB20 outside of testing, I thought that was against the rules.

The papaya orange ended the year strong, hopefully there’s an improvement in that car.

Red Bull will lead the pack, The battle will be between Ferrari, Aston Martin, Mercedes and McLaren

You can tell who's done research and who hasn't, the Merc was the slowest in a straight line in testing, they were heavily sandbagging and came 2nd, that car is quick... if you think they're going to reveal just how quick it is before the season starts and they can get points off of it, then you're naive.
