Every 2024 F1 driver ranked from worst to best

Performance and results don’t always align in Formula 1. That’s why at The Race we create our own ranking of the drivers based on being trackside and in the paddock for every single race, qualifying session and free practice.
Our judgement is based exclusively on how each driver performed during 2024 taking into account the quality of their machinery. This isn’t about ranking the drivers in order of how good they are, but purely what they showed during the 24-event season.
We consider all manner of criteria - qualifying speed, stint speed, errors, execution, consistency, their all-round contribution to the teams and much more.
And this is not the opinion of any one individual, but instead drawn from our team of F1 experts.

At the end of 2023, every driver was jealous of verstappen, having such a great car to drive. At the end of 2024, every team principal was jealous of Red Bull having such a great driver in their car.

Hulkenberg is severely underrated. His pure adjusted pace, and consistency, in a back marker car is astounding. He might be a top 5 driver, and Redbull would’ve been smart to consider him if they are serious about the constructer championship

On a serious note…Mike Krack will never speak honestly on Lance as long as he has a mortgage to pay!

I don't think Bearmans placing is justified, sure he did well in Saudi, but he was still in a Ferrari, comparing his performance with Colapinto or even Lawson, I don't think he was better than either of them

McLaren would rank Perez higher because of how helpful he was to them

Finally someone recognizing alonso who was best of the rest in points by a big margin even though their car got worse and worse while others got much better. Aston was only ahead of sauber at the end of the season

I don't know how fair it is to grade Zhou Guanyu given how bad the car was. Not sure how you get him higher on here but in a better car he might be a serviceable driver.

Think Hulkenburg should be higher. Was often the best of the rest.

Zhou were hampered by his team, unlike Stroll or Perez. He should be at least above those two

Yuki and Hulkenburg should be higher they were fighting for the best of the rest for the majority of the year. Both have 11 Q3's, which is amazing for a midfielder
