Tom Delgado takes you around Astoria, Queens, New York City, and tells you the history of the neighborhood, the Steinway Piano Factory, and the immigration to the neighborhood. Tom also talks about the Greek immigration and the gentrification of the neighborhood. This is an intro, not an exhaustive history, so chill out! Shot by Eric Thirteen.

Thanks for watching (or coming down to the comments to post something [supportive, of course]!).

My Grandmother was born in Astoria in 1919, on Steinway Street. She lived to be 102 years old. Her Grandmother worked at the studio in Astoria during the silent movie era.

Greetings from a Greek American in Astoria! Thank you for honoring our neighborhood! Your Greek accent was spot on, by the way!!

Me and my wife are from the south and when we spent three months in NY to experience someplace new, we ended up staying in Astoria for a majority of that time after Airbnb hopping. We’re coming back again this weekend and I’m so excited to be in this neighborhood again

I grew up in Astoria, NY and, by the way, my great-grandmother was aboard the General Slocum and, obviously, survived since I'm here to tell that bit of personal history! From what my friends tell me, my hometown has changed alot!! Nice video! Thanks for the memories!

Hi, I grew up in Astoria first in Queens Bridge projects, then in the story of projects, then moved to 42nd St., just off of Stanley Street right by Kaufman Studios. There’s a bunch of stuff filmed there one of them was the wiz with Michael Jackson the other thing is there was two buildings that used to be army barracks that me and my friend used to hang out there especially in winter times, the Kaufman studios took over those Buildings most people don’t know, but there is a tunnel connecting the two buildings underneath the street from one building to the other when the cop chases us in one building, we used to go down the tunnel up to other building. Astoria Queens always be a part of me no matter where I live. I miss it so much now I’m in Wisconsin big difference. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it very much.
