Environmental Justice is the fair and meaningful treatment of all people, regardless of race, income, national origin or color, with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations and policies. 6,740,650 million New Yorkers (34%) live in potential environmental justice areas. This video highlights the important connection between environmental justice and climate justice. Black people should be allowed to buy property. Banks should make lending decisions based on a person’s income and financial situation. People with a low income are more likely to have health problems. This is not all related to the physical environment. Poor people are more likely to smoke tobacco, drink too much alcohol and use recreational drugs. They also eat more junk and fast food. They usually have less education including health information. There are many reasons why low-income people can have poor health.
