It's simple. What caused the US companies to move to Mexico? NAFTA dropped the tariffs allowing them to manufacture in Mexico with cheap labor and then bring it back to sell. What will reverse it? Reinstate the tariffs. A GM worker making chevy trucks in Mexico makes 2 dollars an hour, while a US auto worker makes 42 an hr. Both trucks sell for the same price on US lots. The total labor on a chevy truck with union labor is 2500 dollars, but when they sell the truck for 75, 000, there is still a huge profit. The total labor to make a Mexican truck is 120 dollars. GM is not passing on the labor savings on the Mexican made trucks. Put a 25% tairff on the Mexican trucks entering the US, and GM will have to pay 18, 750 per truck, just to get them across the border, with no guarantee of selling them. When a 75k truck has an added tariff of 18, 750, it will up the price to 93, 750. People are not gonna buy a truck that expensive, when we have US made trucks that have no tariff. What will GM and the other auto companies do? They will close the Mexican plants and expand production in the US, to avoid paying the tariffs.

People saying she works for the cartels don't know how Mexican politics work, they don't know anything about our political figures and parties or history. It's better to remain silent than expose your ignorance. The cartel worked with PAN which is the right "conservative" party in Mexico which is not really conservative since they support abortion and whatever is beneficial for them at the moment. Claudia is from MORENA which is hated by all other Mexican political parties including the PAN (The PRI, PAN, and PRD went into coalition with a single candidate during the elections against MORENA's candidate Claudia because of how hated they have become for their corruption and meddling with the cartel). The PRI, PAN, and PRD are opposition against MORENA, they are not the same. Also PAN is the one that has 100% been confirmed of working with narcos, Felipe Calderon (president of Mexico from 2006-2012) appointed a narco (Genaro Garcia Luna) as secretary of public security during his mandate. MORENA and the opposition are NOT the same stop spewing lies and misinformation when you know nothing!

It's about time the leaders of Mexico feared consequences of keeping open borders, because up to now the USA [mis]leadership has not publicly (or seemingly not privately either) been putting their feet to the fire. Threats of tariffs are a negotiating tool, and a very potent one. Wanna see US companies moving production back to the US? Well, make it economically unfeasible to do so in Mexico. That is a real and present danger to Mexico, and their posturing is nothing more than that. They know they're in trouble if tariffs happen. It's about time we put tangible pressure on Mexico to quit letting people pass through their country on the way to ours without having gone through any legal process to enter our country
