This teenager lived 8,000 years ago | FOG OF HISTORY

Vistegutten, the "Viste Boy", was the name given to the skeleton of a Stone Age boy found in 1907 at the Vistehola Cave in Rogaland, Norway.

Anthropologists estimate that the boy was 15 years old at the time of his death, but he was very short - 125 cm, the height of an 8-9-year-old child. The skull had an unusual elongated "boat-shaped" shape, which suggests pathology. No abnormalities were found on the other skeletal bones; the guy was strong and muscular. The cause of death has not been determined.

The sex of the teenager was uncertain for a long time, with some anthropologists leaning toward it being a girl. In 2015, a fragment of the temporal bone of the "Viste child" was sent for genetic analysis. The analysis revealed the presence of a Y-chromosome, so male gender was confirmed.

According to the isotope analysis, the "Viste boy" was born and raised near where he died. His diet consisted of both seafood and terrestrial food.

Sex was uncertain if it was one or the other of only two options. Amazing how the ancient bodies found are only ever one of two choices. Almost as if that was the natural way of our biology.

He would have never thought that 8000 years later someone would try to recreate his likeness for millions to see. I think we all know life was not easy back then, but if it weren’t for people like this we would not be here today. I also think this boy was considered a man at his age because life expectancy was probably around 40 to 50.
