Are the Jews the chosen people? Are the Arabs, Rastafarians, Americans, or Brits, chosen by God? Here's what religious people don't understand about race, ethnicity, and the notion of a chosen people or master race. Religious people who think they're the chosen people are really scientifically confused. Here's why.

Does anyone else find it odd that people who think God has a chosen race always think that it's their own?

I've always asked: "Chosen for what?"

Thank you for addressing this topic. I always felt insulted as a chistian that we were supposed to pander to Israel and Jews and worse, that my ancestors are all in Hell essentially for the crime of not being born in ancient Israel. By the way I'm African.
Edit: Nigerian to be specific.

If I were a deity I’d secretly tell everyone that they’re the chosen people... just to add a bit of chaos to the Petri dish.

I agree with you Holy Koolaid and wish there was a stop button to racism.  But explaining this to someone who was raised to believe or has a religious agenda is almost impossible.  Thank you and keep up the good work.

Chosen people are chosen because some deluded human said so.

I was once called an anti-Semite for saying how Jewish people are not "chosen people".
I simply followed on that statement by saying how we are all equals. I respect the Jewish people and their struggles throughout history. I respect their religion and culture. But I don't think any people should be elevated above others and called "chosen ones".
Still, I was called an anti-Semite, even after saying all of that.

Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot makes this very clear.

I sat on Jim Jones' lap as an infant in Indianapolis. We left his church and we did not drink the Koolaid.

**makes white people the chosen race**
**Makes white people have a high risk of skin cancer.**

So then...nobody is truly adopted. They are just raised by extended family.

I got admitted to the hospital suddenly after finding out that I had lost 2 units of blood bc I had ulcers. Two selfless ppl who will forever remain anonymous to me, and me to them, cared enough about their fellow human to save the life of a complete stranger. I am forever grateful to these two angels on Earth for giving me what I needed to live to fight another day, and I plan on honoring their sacrifice by doing the best I can to pay it forward. Knowing that every person I meet on the street might be one of my saviors makes me feel so humbled.

A few years after my dad died my mom started seeing a guy who had some weird (racist?) views, he believed he was one of “Gods chosen people” and as such was against blood transfusions because his blood might get contaminated. Mom thought this was really weird and tried to talk some sense into him, but unfortunately he was pretty firm in his beliefs, so much so that after he was in a bad car accident and the surgeon told him he needed blood transfusions or he would die, he refused. And he died within a few hours. Mom tried to argue with him but he was convinced it was all God’s will and he was going to go to heaven. Unfortunately she never dated anyone else after that, I think his (totally preventable) death was more traumatic than she would admit.

I absolutely hate it when people ask me what my nationality is based on my accent.
My ancestors travelled, I lived, I absorbed things from different places, learned things from different people.
Most of us had the same experiences. We all feel joy, fear, bliss and despair. We are human. I am human.
