A.I. Filtering for jobs should be illegal and considered a form of discrimination

I miss the times we would apply for jobs in person

I was laid off back in June and have been struggling to get a new job since. I have a PhD in biochemistry and more than a decade of experience in the laboratory. I've have submitted countless applications, had several dozen recruiter interviews, and a few dozen hiring manager interviews but no offers. I'm treated as worthless.

I've been applying for jobs for a year with a bachelors degree and I can't get an interview.

What that man says is useless because when we apply we will of course apply for something we are qualified for and we will either use them or not apply at all. I mean, if I can use the key words in my cv... I mean cover letter... I will. Does that man even know the difference between a cv and cover letter? What's also horrifying to me is that when you are looking for do long you start to get so desperate that you apply to places where you dont even wanna be, so if you do get hired you might not even last there and the search starts all over.

Changing my resume? Broooo fuck that, a resume is supposed to be the same every time. Then what the F are cover letters for?

It’s a huge waste of time and anything that waste time does not feed stomachs. These companies think we have the luxury of having the whole day to cater to their ridiculous job requirements and YOE on our resumes just to still get ghosted after

The other issue is that age discrimination is out there in full force OR biases against parents returning to work. Please give these folks a look -you are missing out on a great talent pool of people.

Sometimes I wish the government forced companies to hire me. They don't help at all. It got so far that I developed severe depression as and anxiety so now they are going to help me... But I bet it will suck.

It feels like I've been applying to jobs for half of my lifespan already.

Right because, it's all about crafting the perfect resume and the perfect cover letter, it has nothing to do whether the company is actually hiring, whether the hiring manager actually likes you or not, whether they think you're experienced enough, etc.

Innovation to these companies hiring managers means relying on AI software to search through hundreds of applicants who might otherwise be eligible for hire, and sorting through the candidates who are also using AI software to compete with other potential candidates who may or may not resort to AI in order to find basic jobs that they’re very likely qualified for in order to find the most overqualified or hardest working applicants to fill the role of the least paid underling, and consider that more affordable and a better use of their time and resources then being surprised when no one wants to work for them or is ineligible for a glorified entry level position… don’t feel discouraged if you decide to apply elsewhere or give up entirely… these industries are doing it to themselves… welcome to the AI takeover that is the dystopia of our modern world

It's truly bizarre when I get more responses from the federal government than the private sector.

And what exactly are the "keywords " that people should be using, for the AI algorithm to take notice????

It’s 1 year I am job hunting and I’m beyond depressed 😔 MBA and a specialist in my field with over 65 certifications and my cv is ATS approved. I think I did my cv over abd over again over 100 times. I am sure I applied for over 200 jobs 😢 this is the lowest point in my life.

Hey, I have a much better and simpler idea than the 'change the keywords on your resume' solution: why don't companies and employers fix their broken hiring system and stop relying so much on shitty applicant tracking software and faulty AI, instead of literally outsourcing the onus onto us, the applicants and job seekers.
