Legit when I used to pet sit dogs I always took them on walks daily. Owners were surprised when I insisted on it but this was why. So many less behavior problems and they bonded more easily to me. The barrier stuff worked too. Had this one rescue dog that was very suspicious of me, barked like mad when I entered his backyard. He was extremely food motivated though, so I would walk to the backyard with treats and only gave them to him when he was being calm and when he sit when I asked. That dog was glued to me for the rest of time we had together. ❤

The easiest way to do this is get a retired guide dog because they always follow guidance and direction

With my 6 year old husky i got her at 3 she’s was set in her ways and husky’s are a nightmare to do competition style obedience with when I got my gsd puppy he definitely opened my eyes on how the training is done I’d love yo train my husky I just don’t think I have the skills to do so

I could never handle either of our dogs on leash, I have arthritis, and I move slow. My brother does take them for walks on leash sometimes though.
But, they both sorta have ME trained well, I let them in and out often since I can reach the doorknob out to the dog yard from the recliner I sleep in. They will knock on the door to go out, and make noise to be let in.
They are smart enough to understand "go lay down" when I don't want to let them out again. BUT, that just delays them about 5 minutes before they want out again.
Yes, I am letting our dogs make me do what THEY want me too. IF they wake me up by knocking to go out, I am already woken up, so, I let them out. I need to find a way to stop them from waking me up at all. Maybe I can move my recliner in front of the door? Hell, I don't know.

Ive been watching loads of videos like this but the one thing people are missing out and not saying is you need to let your dog be itself and be able to express itself otherwise ur gonna have a shy dog exectra.if you wanna be bestfriend with ur dog and have a connection then let it do what it wants once in a while. You gotta let ur dog be able to express themselves PERIOD
