A few years ago at a U2 concert in England, Bono virtue signalled to the audience by telling them about hunger in Africa. He started clicking his fingers and said "every time I click my fingers a child in Africa dies". At that point, a voice shouted out from the audience "Stop clicking your damned fingers then!"

Bono paid $1500 to fly his hat from London to Italy. To say he may be out of touch may be an understatement.

He finally found what he was looking for…capitalism.

Here's a real Bono story: remember at his concerts, he'd hand out 50, 000 masks of Aung Sang Suchi, the Burmese politician held "wrongly" in home arrest. U2 literally printed out 50, 000 paper masks of her face and ask the audience to put it on for the encore. Bono gave a big speech about her good heart and blessed goals for her nation of Burma and how she was being illegally and wrongly persecuted by brutal dictatorship who had her locked away in her home for decades. He compared her to Nelson Mandela and asked us all to sing 'Walk On' in her honour. Well... fast forward the number of years and she was let out of home arrest and allowed to run for office. She won the election and became the president of Burma. What was her first course of action? To round up and jail / kill her political opponents. She literally became the dictator that she claimed was evil. Bono has been pin drops silent about the matter ever since. Funny. Wonder why? Perfect example why we shouldn't listen to celebrities.

Let's not forget that over 90% of the money made from Live Aid went directly into the hands of warlords. I can't understand how that scandal was kept so low key.

I'm from Ireland and I'm embarrassed by Bono and his sickening virtue signalling on the world stage seriously most people here think he's a fool

What Bono was really saying is he isn’t in favor of the idea of his wealth being redistributed to the less fortunate to lift them higher.

I’m from Ireland and I can tell you that when he starts preaching his b.s. views here we all roll our eyes and remind him he’s not the god he thinks he is. He’s a pop singer with a great lead guitarist and drummer behind him.

Bono did not just have this epiphany. Like so many other celebrities, he's just going with the crowd and he can see which way the winds are blowing now.

Yeah Bono lectures us on the environment. Meanwhile he flew half a dozen jumbo jet cargo planes to get his stage to Australia for a show.

Bono: "REDISTRIBUTE RESOURCES AND WEALTH"

People: "Yes yours"

Also Bono: "NOO NOT LIKE THAT"

Wow, it took Bono his whole career to realise where his money came from.

Some of the agencies, foundations, and organizations who accept billions of dollars in donations aimed at alleviating and hopefully eliminating extreme poverty need to be investigated. When we find out the percentage of financial support that actually is spent for its intended purpose the numbers are appalling.

Every time I heard Bono's name in the news back in the 90s, it made my eyes roll back in my head. Nothing has changed.

You can disagree with his politics but U2 is one of the greatest bands ever. There's a reason they have been so successful. Can't remember ever hearing "New Years Day" in an elevator. Their songs will be long remembered. There's no need to trash the art.

80s and 90s U2 were great. The past 20+ years though, not so much.
Bono’s politics have never been inspiring.

"There comes a moment in an activist's life when he realizes if he wants to keep his $700 million and private jet lifestyle he better change that tune"

In one of his most egomaniacal activist moments, Bono silently stood on the stage in the middle of one of his concerts. Every several seconds he clapped his hands one time. After a few cycles of this, he said, "Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies."
One guy in the crowd brought him back to reality. He shouted, "Then stop doing that, you cruel bastard!"

I never kept up with Bono's politics, but was, and still am, a fan of his music. "Achtung Baby" was one of the best albums around in the early 90's.
