Such important tips, Dylan! Thanks for making this. I also want to add on to what you brought up by mentioning that manually correcting LOG footage is a sure fire way to send your colors out of whack and make your correcting process a lot more difficult as well. So if you're working with LOG footage, always use an input/transform LUT. The legend himself, Mr. Gerald Undone, has a really killer video on showing why that is. Plus, adding an input LUT is so much easier haha.

Great tips Dylan! What I wanted to add on this amazing video is the use of Adjustments Layers, especially when you have already cut the video and you haven't applied the Color Correction and grading into the clip first.

Thank you for putting this out there. I’ve considered making this tutorial a few times, as signal flow with log seems to be controversial with some people.
It’s staggering how many YouTubers spread misinformation, telling people to just add contrast and saturation to log. I immediately unsub. 😂

Hi Dylan. Thanks for this. I’ve seen sooo many videos in youtube about this and different people are doing this differently. I will try this way in my next color grading process. I do have one more question. What about the color balance/white balance coreection. If I have all 3; color balance, luts correction, color wheels, which one should be top which one should be bottom. Shall I do color wheels at the top, followed by color balance, then lastly bottom most the luts correction? Where do i put 4th one, look luts? Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi Dylan, thanks for the vid. I use the DJI LUT for my Mavic 3 when I shoot log but lately I've been shooting in native mode. The save custom preset will tempt me to try log some more. One question, I have only used the Manufacturer's LUT so far but I see a number of sources that are selling "custom LUTs" and I wonder just what the advantage of these are?

lol, I use LUTs for color correction and the color inspector (exposure and sometimes saturation). With the building project that I do, it would take me hours to color correct every scene...I'm all over my shop and every spot is a different lighting.

Fantastic tip. Head slap (I should’ve figured this out myself)

Great video as all ways :) One question, if you apply the transform LUT from the Info Inspector first, does this hinder the dynamic range as well?

Great video Dylan, quick question, if we use a color finale, do you apply it above the custom lut?

Does applying the LUT from the info panel and then doing a color grade result in the correct order? I don’t use the custom LUT *effect*

Great video! Is there really no native workaround for this? Seems silly to move things around this much especially if you have a lot of corrections/masks to your HDR footage. I know FCP defaults each adjustment to the bottom so it's very annoying having to drag each one above the LUT. Curious if you can work around this issue by adding HDR Tools, Color Conform, or setting a Color Space Overide in FCP? Trying to find some answers for using HDR content on SDR timelines like this. Just curious if you've found an alternate/easier solution.

What about if you're shooting LOG in Filmic Pro?

Curious. Makes me wonder if DJI make them

Is this better than using an adjustment layer?

Wish Final Cut would make a plugin that automatically detects and adjusts based on X-rite Color Checkers.

except that Sony does not make LUTS for popular pro-sumer cams like A7S3 - they only do for high end cinema cams.
