15 years worth of old TJ clips make for an endless source of golden shorts

We already solved world hunger, etc. The scarcity we see today is artificial. The problem isn't overpopulation, it's centralization which enables a leadership and culture run on dark triad personality traits on a global scale.

If the resources were distributed more evenly, maybe it wouldn't be as big of a problem. But the way things are right now, I agree.

In my opinion; i regret this already, its an resource distribution issue.

I'm entirely unconvinced that we don't already have all the technologies we need to solve this problem equitably and sustainably. Between nuclear wind and solar, industrial super batteries for grid storage, the ability to literally desalinate water from the unlimited source that is seas and oceans, it would probably be easier to achieve than we realize if we were more concerned with actually solving the problem but we're too busy arguing over who ought to die first and pretending they deserve it. All the effort we put into making war against one another, what incredible things we could achieve if we shifted our focus to the stewardship of the planet😅

It is overpopulated. I can back that up. Everywhere you go it’s crowded no matter where you go. There’s just lots of people even in my cornfield neighborhood in the middle of nowhere near Cincinnati Ohio is getting crowded with no affordable living. No matter where you go there is no affordable living whatsoever. People are working 84 hours a week or more just to afford a home people are working nonstop and live in their cars home prices are outpacing your salaries. The rent takes 90% of your income or more. There is a terrible homeless situation. Everywhere you go all these cities around the world are designing anti-homeless designs with hostile architecture. You hear the same topic about affordable living, no affordable groceries food shortage, or a supply shortage, when you look at the state of California alone, there is a terrible homeless situation with people sleeping in tents in the downtown area now here’s a kick with all these homeless people. I will tell them OK then give them homes? You say that people will be like oh we can’t because it’s too expensive OK why is it too expensive? Because it’s so high and demand there you go the same people that tell you it’s not overpopulated will say to you that every big city is expensive because it’s a high demand. Well, what about the cornfields in the middle of nowhere like I originally talked about? Same thing higher demand, there are more and more people, and there are not enough places for them to live I went from having my own apartment in San Diego California my second apartment out in the middle of the cornfield then my third and last apartment was in Miami, Florida and I lost it because I lost my job in the economy went down under inflation, skyrocketingthere is no affordable living anywhere. I’ll tell you why because the planet is overpopulated and there aren’t enough homes and resources for everyone.

I can’t exactly say it’s a myth the way things are now, but if resources were handled and distributed in a fairer and more equitable way it would not really be a concern

You guys remember Fury Road? The intro where they talk about plagues, oil wars, then the water wars. Yeah. That. Thats starting now.

Forest / jobs/ high crime / terrorism / poverty / illiteracy/ high living cost/ high resource depletion.

Can't understand, why peoples talk 💩 like this .
I guess, they must be paid from corrupt leaders and big Factory owners who need cheap and forced labor

If we lived on Spaceship Earth, and if the human population was the sole lifeforn that mattered to us, maybe. I don't want to live on a planet without orcas, pandas, seals, otters, lions, monarch butterflies, and hummingbirds. Life would be so uninteresting and unnatural. How many species need to be sacrificed in order to discover the absolute carrying capacity of the earth for humanity?

TRUE. Another argument I hate is that because Paul R. Ehrlich wrote a book about overpopulation and a lot of the predictions didn't come true, that means overpopulation was disproven and can never be a problem. It is just an excuse to dismiss concerns about it.

Yeah these people don't seem to understand the resource issue. The Sahara Desert is barely populated, but it's not like you could just build a city in the middle of it and expect it to flourish.

Most of Egypt's population lives along the Nile for a reason, and what happens when the water runs low?

I mean, in all fairness, we aught to get rid of oil and coal. And honestly, the meat industry does a lot of harm too

Mostly, it is just logistical problems.
EG in the western US they are experiencing draughts for decades now. In the eastern US they are constantly being inundated by terrible storms, torrential rains and hurricanes.
If the US relied enough on solar and wind, they could decommission all the oil and gasoline pipelines crisscrossing the US, clean them up, and use them to pump an endless overabundance of fresh water from the east coast to the west.

The overpopulation issue is a classic case of people talking past each other. The people who say it's a myth really mean that the world's population will sort itself out with increased industrialisation, that birth rates will naturally fall and the population will recede. People like TJ and to an extent myself would contend that there are probably already too many people, and that it will take too long for birth rates to fall, given that the consequences of overpopulation are time sensitive.

This is one issue where there truly are merits to both sides, but at least one side is too dumb to realise it, especially when you have people unironically making it about literal space, so we can never have a productive nuanced discussion, which is really sad.
