It’s crazy I just got my bike a couple days ago and was thinking about how I’m going to get the speed sensor on it since I know some are not compatible with it. It’s like a miracle that the first video I see on YouTube is someone who makes the tutorial using the exact bike I bought!

Thank you

I have this exact bike! I’ve read over and over elsewhere that a speed sensor won’t work on this bike, but I was really thinking I could make it work! So excited to see you did it DIYdad2000!

It's encouraging to see that you were able to attach the speed sensor to the flywheel hub. Just ordered both a cadence & speed (Moofit) sensors and was wondering if the sensor would fit properly. Watching your video and having a flywheel hub slightly larger than yours is positive news.

Thank you! I have this bike and have been looking for a solution!

I have a Schwinn Spinner and I am doing something similar to what you're doing. Like you, I put the cadence sensor on the left peddle. I am using a Garmin Cadence and Speed sensor.. I removed the speed sensor from its housing. I have double sided tape that I use to attach it to the outside of the flywheel. I have tried attaching it to the side of the wheel, but I have found the connection was hit and miss with that configuration. I was able to establish a connection that enabled me to pair the sensors with the iPhone. Before I start my riding session, I revolved the wheel twice, connect and then I am good to go.

There is one thing I don't understand: on a spin bike there are no gears, so crank revolutions are always proportional to flywheel revolutions, why didn't you strap the speed sensor to the crank as well? It seems a simpler and safer solution to me?

Do you need to make any kind of adjustments to the wheel circumference measurement to account for the circumference of the hub?

Can I add the wahoo speed sensor flush on the wheel as opposed to mimicking a hub mount? Wouldn’t that be easier? But does it work!?!? Please let me know!

Can you orient to speed sensor at a 280 degree rotation from the direction you have? Will it work that way? I don't believe there is adequate space on my stationary bike to orient it the way you have?

I have a magnetic spin bike too. My problem arises after pairing my Wahoo with Zwift.

Not sure if you use Zwift, but let me ask anyways. During the Zwift setup, when you get to the page where they ask to "select your trainer, " there is no option for the metal plated flywheel bikes like ours. What does one do/select then?

Was it pretty easy to calibrate the speed sensor to accurately track speed and distance on strava?

Hi, ok so how do i set up the wheel circumference?? i understand that you get the sensor as close to the centre of the spinbike wheel as possible, but how does measuring the circumference of the wheel itself make any difference as it's how fast it goes around the base point on a stationary bike, surely the wheel size is irrelevant?

I tried this exact set up and the speed data is pretty useless - the crank RPM is linked to the flywheel and there is no way to link the resistance to the speed. Point being, you can set resistance low and spin away really freely and easily and the speed is high. Add a bit of resistance and the speed as your cadence drops. So the speed is not really a representation of what speed you'd be cycling at in a real world setting, its just a different representation of your cadence depending on the ratio of cadence to RPM of the flywheel - which is fixed on a spin bike, unlike a real bike.

How do you set the tire size for a spin bike? Or did I miss that part?

ok not technically savvy here but got all the sensors strapped on - now how do I see it on the tablet or laptop? I know, I know.... help

You showed the attachment but never showed the results.

Want to do the same to my bike. Do you need both speed and cadence for best experience with the Peloton app? Thanks

I have this set up but can’t get it to work on RGT. Do you need a power source? I figured Bluetooth would do the job. Any ideas?
