Terry, you were too quick at setting aside the poke tool at 2.26 in the video. It can still help you with your task. I found that tool very handy at removing the trim retaining piece holding the cylinder in the knob. Once you do have a little gap, insert the hook end into the gap and slide the curved edge of the tool around the trim piece to work it loose. Works even better if you use two of the tools, a little rocking action of the tools and the piece comes right off. One of the tools at the shop workbench I've ground the hook so it is sharp like a knife point. I slip it in between the trim piece and the knob to get the initial gap. I have a photo of how I use two of the tools on knob sets, but youtube doesn't allow attachments in the comments.
