that is exactly why its used with Resins and epoxy's. if you have a 30 minute epoxy and its kind of runny you can add fumed silica to thicken it. it will actually be stronger and if you add Milled fiber it makes it almost unbreakable. its a thickener for fiberglass

That fumed silica certainly became airborne the way he was messing with it even before it was boiled. This dude seriously should have a mask at all times when working with it.
