The worst thing about Warface is that it's a half-decent f2p shooter at its core.
It's just not worth dealing with the bad servers and p2w garbage.

Not really "pay to win" but Sims 4 DLCs are insanely priced

When I was in grade school a teacher told me, "There's no such thing as free." Then she stole my lunch money.

I'm genuinely surprised World of Tanks wasn't in this. Warthunder isn't all that bad tho surprisingly

I feel like old pixel gun 3d might have made a spot on this list. They've done a little better now, but it used to just be filled with guns that were largely impractical to get freely. Like 200+ gem guns that a p2w player could get for like $10 while a f2p player would take at least half a year to get. Now its a bit more even, but instead they just release an overpowered gun only p2w players will be able to get it fast enough before it gets nerfed.

I’m shocked at the cost of tanks in war thunder. Holy crap they are outrageous

I remember when Heroes & Generals was actually somewhat fun early on, except for the insane grind. That was until I stopped playing the version from their website and downloaded the steam version instead. I logged in to my account via steam, only to see that all the equipment I had unlocked were gone. I still had my soldiers, but none of them were armed. I contacted the support but never got an answer. In other words... fuck that game.

I've been playing warface since beta. Can confirm, wasn't always p2w. Was an amazing semi futuristic, pve only coop experience. As micro trans got huge, they went with times.

I m actually surprised that World of Tanks isn t on the list. After all, it is developed by a company who, quotes, "is a for profit company and therefore is working to monetize" some key features of the game, changes no one asked for and could be detrimental for the game health (namely Crew 2.0, OP premium tanks etc...)

I'm starting to question is Falcon an actual talking bird?

So many companies are jumping on the free game bandwagon- it worries me!

Just a correction. The Hunter Classic USED to be p2w, you don't need licenses to hunt animals anymore and EVERYTHING can be bought with ingame currency. That's the only reason I started playing it a few weeks ago, the old business model was really terrible and some things from the store could only be bought with real money. I'm glad they changed that.

Honestly I love Star Trek Timelines. Sure it’s simple, but it’s fun, a good game to play when you’re watching something. And they’re constantly updating and adding new characters and events. I’ve been playing for years, and I have almost every character I want to have, without spending a dime. Sure I’ve never really come close to top player in an event, and you really have to save your energy for an event you like the reward in, but they’re always giving you free items and characters. Ya, you could easily just spend money get who you want, etc, but it isn’t necessary to play the game or even enjoy it

I played Curiosity. It was simple and monotonous. All you had to do was to break blocks to get a prize at the end. Apparently profit participation on the game Godus. But somehow I had fun on it. My favorite part was to see other players around breaking blocks along with me, feeling everyone going after the prize.

This is why I just play single player games, harder to ruin it with micro transactions but still possible

Alternative title: 10 times "free" was more expensive than paid.

I know back then as a kid I loved Modern Combat 3 on my iPod/iPad. It was a damn awesome game, and MC4 wasn’t bad either, not as memorable as it’s predecessor, but good. Then there was MC5, with wack movement, even wackier maps and awful guns.

What’s funny is that MC3‘s story wasn’t bad and especially for a game on the phone MC4‘s story was really entertaining. It really was "inspired" by CoD, but still it was cool having a continuous story with returning characters.

Modern combat 5 is such a nostalgic mobile game for me
I remember always playing it with my friend so many years ago
Good times

I played Star Trek Timelines for a minute quite a while ago. You get basic trash for free and a free 5* every so often but it wasn't very good. It did waste time quite effectively though
