Combining the latest grain orientation technology and hand-selected North American Hard Rock Maple, Performance Series' proprietary HVX shells deliver a low, punchy fundamental, with ample resonance and projection that's perfectly suited for live applications.

Performance Series 8" Toms feature a 7-ply HVX construction, while the Snares feature 10-ply HVX, and the 10"-16", along with all Bass Drums, feature 8-ply HVX construction.

My Performance drums have been one of the single best drum purchases I've made through my whole 40 years of drumming. They do every single thing I ask of them, in any genre, in any tuning. All I do is put the right type of head on them, tune appropriately, and I get Bebop, Metal, Country, Rock, and everything in between.

If you have a minimal 3 piece shell kit that’s not DW brand, it’s not a bad idea to own just one DW rack Tom drum with a slightly different size and alternate with your stock Tom back and forth for a change of pace of slightly different kit sound variation from time to time.
