As a former Windows Laptop user, I have been using my MacBook Air M1 since I bought from 2022 Black Friday & so far, it hasn't gave me any problems with Photoshop.

Mainly is because, I only did a few projects in Photoshop and I haven't stored anything on the computer. Although I still have a flash drive that I used to use when I was in college, I still need to buy a TB Hard Drive. I'm looking at possibly a LaCie 5TB model. But I'm waiting for a sale price on it.

For the photography part, I use my Lightroom on my iPhone for now until I get decide to get a Mac Mini.

Next year, even though I mentioned about getting a Mac mini, I think I still might buy a MacBook Pro to use alongside my current Air M1 model especially for my Art business. So far, the Air M1 has been awesome!

The Problem with waiting for the 14” or 16” M1x/M2 is that Apple is not honest about what the reason for the time delay is. I have to say that i will give Apple at max 2 more months and after the time i will get in Addition to my fully maxed out M1 Macbook Pro 13, either the Razor core 15 advanced or the new AMD Ryzen Razer Book 14 inch, bc i need a computer which is strong enough for 6/8 K footage and not just 4 K 60 for which the M1 Macbook Pro is sufficient

As a YouTube creator I edit a lot using Premiere, Lightroom, and Photoshop. Would base model of Air with M1 be fast enough or should I look in Pro with 16gb ?

Would the air with 16 gigs be good enough for 1080p and 4K footage editing and light room too? I’m a film student whose going into photography class as well but the assignment for film is under 15 minutes. Or should I save up and buy the new pros

I would agree that the M1 MacBooks are great for starting photographers/videographers. The 100% P3 color gamut screen, the pretty decent benchmarks, and longer battery life make them pretty easy recommendations.
Some limitations though would be the rather stiff configurations, and the pricing tiers between them; and that only one monitor can be hooked up (perhaps a firmware can iron this out). And I guess MacOS is another limitation :P I'm really tempted to get one solely for my hobbyist photography work as my desktop is slowly dying (I'm still on i7 Sandy Bridge). But, I don't like MacOS...

I used to edit on a mbp (intel i5 dual core) 2015 13" with 8GB of ram and 128GB of storage, would the MacBook Air M1 16gb be good for me?
Im currently a film major student, but my assignments are all in 1080p, I also use Lightroom and photoshop as Ive been a hobbyist/amateur photographer for a few years now. I edit videos on both FCP and Premiere and occasionally use resolve for color grading.
