Fires on Maui started spreading widely – fueled in part by violent winds from Hurricane Dora, churning more than 800 miles away – decimating homes and businesses, launching urgent rescue missions, knocking out communication services and forcing residents into the ocean to avoid being burned. Lahaina is such a historic town with so many places and commodities that simply can't be replaced. Was one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever been in my life. So many memories burned away... I pray for the people impacted and hope that they can raise enough money/courage to build it back!

None of the videos have any firefighters anywhere !!! I’ve been looking for any kind of response team and there is none!!! They let it burn on purpose!! They did a similar thing to us here in the socal mountains this winter. We got 5’ of snow in a week (Normally 1’ is crazy for us) and immediately they always have plows running but this year not a single plow! Then they barricaded all the roads so no one could go up to help. They let these people starve and freeze to death in their homes trapped by the snow. All they had to do was run the plows like they always do instead they purposely shut down the plows blocked all support and said shut up big daddy government knows best. I have a video of me arguing with a police officer blocking us from our home on my YouTube page. Welcome to climate lockdowns. If it’s a “natural” disaster no one is to blame…

Many condolences.. Before rebuilding, Maui homeowners could learn from the 1993 Laguna Beach fire where only one home in Mystic Hill was the only left untouched by it—-was spared due to its construction and landscape design. The house featured double-pained glass which helps keep heat from igniting the draperies inside the house, a tile roof sealed with concrete on the ends to keep sparks out, and stuccoed eves to hide any exposed wood. Landscaping zones of fire resistant plants also helped. Ron and Lona Ingwerson were the owner of that home.
