PD designs and makes their own zippers, Very high quality, some of the best on the market, many think even better than YKKs. PD is known for their high quality metal hardware and clips. Happy Travels!

Finally a proper full review of this amazing backpack 🎉

This is a great travel bag because of the clamshell opening. The fact that its just a empty space adds versatility. I highly recommend as a travel bag.

Thank you for the recommendation! I used the backpack for a 2 week trip (summer) and I cannot imagine going back to regular luggage.

I watched this video because im trying to decide between the PD 20L Everyday Zip and 30L Travel Backpack, but now I need those packing cubes for my trip, they're so cute!

That’s amazing how much those backpacks can hold! It really is incognito

I have narrowed it down to this and Nomatic 20L-30L travel pack. I like the fact that Nomatic has more compartments so my laptop and tech can stay as is when I am using the main compartment. But the nomatic weights more at 4.16lbs vs peak design 3.17lbs. Also nomatic is much cheaper at costco and costcoNext.

I'm a fan of 1 bag carry-on travel. Life is much simpler when we travel light.

I haver the 45L for the simple reson that it is a perfect overhead (hand luggage) luggage size; I use the messenger as a personal item additionally, which also works great.

It's incredible how you answered my most burning question in the first minute itself. Thank you! I'm hoping Spirit and Frontier let them be considered personal items too

Great review! Have you guys tried the Aer travel pack 3? Wonder how it compares

The 45L is actually more versatile considering it can be used as a personal item when in 30L compressed state or as a carry-on when in expanded 45L state.

Just came across this video. Thanks for the info! Just curious how it worked with Avelo Airlines and if by chance you've also flown with Frontier since. Here that they are very strict and will be flying with them pretty soon.

Thanks for the thorough and helpful review! For those curious, these (and the PD EDB 30L) should (if the website isn't lying) fit within most airlines' carry on limit. Delta, American and United have carry on dimension limits of 9"x14"x22" (Southwest allows slightly larger). According to PD's site, the Travel Backpack 30L expanded dimensions are 7.9"x13.4"x20.9".

Are these bags any good as an every day carry to coffee shop etc? In terms of accessing the main compartment by just opening it partially to allow for laptop access ... and then also reach into access the mesh bags? Im guessing no, better to get a purpose day pack...

The only issue I see missing is the side access. I would like to able to side access passports or some documents when needed.

This sounds like a one-travel bag that I'm looking for but I'd like the security of being able to lock it. Is it possible to lock the main compartment or any part ?

On international flights did you find it fit underneath seats? It works great on domestic U.S. flights, but I'm concerned on foreign airlines.
