How I Would Learn Engineering (If I Could Start Over)

If I were to start over, this is how I would relearn engineering…specifically engineering that involves hardware or mechanical work. There are two important aspects to consider here when learning engineering from scratch. First, there’s the material you need to know. Second, there’s a job-hunting strategy you can follow to actually help you get a high-paying engineering job…when you’re starting out with no experience. Timestamps are as follows:

00:00 Intro
00:20 The Engineering Flowchart
01:35 Job Hunting Strategy
03:38 MODS
05:19 Materials Science
06:58 Manufacturing Methods
08:31 Heat Transfer
09:51 GD&T
10:32 Analysis of Failure
12:09 CADing
12:36 Rapid Prototyping
12:59 Arduino & Breadboarding
13:18 Hand & Shop Tools

Got my internships revoked during college due to covid and now that I've graduated, most internships don't accept new grads nor do most entry level jobs without relevant experience. Definetely keep applying during undergrad so you don't get stuck in limbo like me.

Edit: I did end up getting hired after about a year. I applied to many places within a 12 hour car ride away from where i was currently staying. Also kept working on personal projects, doing certs, practicing interviewing, etc. Unemployment being low definetely helped since less ppl looking for jobs and the cascade of higher level employees applying for lower level jobs seems to have slowed down or stopped. However, the ratio of positions being canceled was still relatively high (1/4jobs)

I only started watching your videos fairly recently but it really does help, I’ve transferred to my dream school and I honestly feel prepared. Thank you for helping out upcoming engineers like myself your videos are great!

Immensely appreciate your videos. I feel like there’s a huge gap between what theory is taught in classes and what skill sets are necessary for any given job. Your videos are so helpful in unpacking all the different aspects of engineering and knowing how to be prepared. Its comforting to know what I need to be doing. Thank you so much man

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer student, I have always searched for such as this content on Youtube and I found you. It was an amazing explanation for the major. Your highlights on the subject were great. I hope you keep going because it's interesting to watch your content as a Mechanical Engineer student.

Got into working on old cars that then got me even more interested in mechanical engineering, hope I'll make it through the bachelor, Im a nerd for the things mentioned in this video, especially material science, construction technices and CAD, but math is my cryptonite that takes a lot out of me. Motivating video to make me keep working hard, so thanks for sharing

Appreciate the videos as always Tamer. Not a lot of people make Mechanical Engineering videos, most are focused on software/tech. You're definitely filling the gap, and glad to see your viewership growing!
I'm a Mechanical Engineer myself and currently job hunting. Your videos are super helpful and informative

I love how over the course of your uploads you've become a lot more comfortable filming yourself and having an audience. I don't watch every video, but I've been watching relatively since your beginning. And I just got to say, you've come so far and I'm so stoked for you

this video really helped alot men thanks for sharing, i believe there isnt enough engineering content out there so most people who are going into engineering dont really know how to go about alot of things

Perfect Tamer. Your way of explanation is so Modern & engineered. I would appreciate if you make videos for each theoratical & practical parts whole as a playlist.
You sounds like a motivation for engineering students bro.

Hey man thanks for your content, I wish to study MechE for my undergrad and this video has provided a much needed insight into the relevant contents of the degree. I will also look into detail about all the topics you discussed here to hopefully include it in my personal statement for my uni application. Appreciate you a lot.
