China’s navy conducts live-fire military drills in the East China Sea

China’s military has conducted four days of live-fire drills in the East China Sea, state media reported. The People’s Liberation Army dispatched guided-missile destroyers Taiyuan, Hangzhou, Taizhou and the frigate Zhoushan to stage multiple military exercises in early January 2021. The drills, involving radar jamming, naval battles, as well as search and rescue missions, are meant to strengthen the detachment’s ability for fast response under harsh winter sea conditions, the PLA said.
