This is Wallen's first all-genre #1, but he's had eight top 10s; six from his latest album; all eight have occurred since 2020. He not only has had this song at 1 for 5 weeks in the US now, but also the #1 album US for nine straight weeks; all from debut. A 10th straight is all but certain. TBA Monday. He began his tour in US in April but is now on doctor ordered vocal rest for six weeks, and had to reschedule all shows in the six week period for next year. He is from East Tennessee.

This song has so far reached #8 on your chart; #1 in Canada and in Australia, and in Australia in fact, Wallen became the first male American country artist to score #1 for song and album simultaneously since Cyrus, Achy Breaky Heart 1992.

In US Hot Songs Chart history (since 1958) twenty songs have topped both the Hot Country Songs Chart and also the Hot 100. This week, this song reached the most ever weeks at #1 combined on both charts with 18; surpassing Johnny Horton's "Battle of New Orleans" 1959, which had 16 combined weeks on both charts. I guess that it's fitting that, as an American, I got to tell y'all this last little tid bit of music data history 😊!

To me, Morgan Wallen is the best singer in Country music

He's actually written many songs for other artists along with performing his own songs.
You're right he has the ability to straddle the line between genres of music.
It's a newer country sound, which typically I'm not into. However, I have liked the songs of his that I've heard.
Another artist that you guys should definitely check out is Hardy, Morgan cowrote songs with him.
He's been a songwriter for many years but only recently started performing on music.
Please start with Wait in the Truck with the official video. It really brings home to the story.
It's a story that shocks most people about a topic that happens too often.
Kudos to Hardy for addressing it.

Hes from east Tennessee in the states. Most southern states here in america if you live in rural neighborhoods growing up it comes naturally. The west and Midwest have no accents in america

Hope you feel better soon BP2, this song was ok, but I wasn't feeling blown away by it and therefore a bit surprised it made number 1 over in the USA. I guess he must be the American version of Ed Sheeran (for us in the UK).

Country is ruling the airwaves in America because all other music sucks right now!!

Country in the US is DEAD. We have, "Bro Country" that is many short tacks, clap or click tracks, mentions of drinking, mentions of cowboys or cowgirls but no horses and then in a strange twist talk of boating. Actual Country music would use banjo, steel guitar, violin and so on. Bro Country is more like Southern Rock that speaks to modern conditions like everyone is cheating, getting sex changes, everyone is drunk, everyone is gone fishing, everyone is DUI, everyone who lost his girl been Drinking but it's for the best since we'd get divorced anyway. It's sort of Country since you can hear a peppering of country instruments. Get a ticket for Morgan's show.... $650.00US that is in no way Country Music but it is a car payment. It happens that all of the Bro Country guys pool all of their songs and so Morgan will write songs for Jason Aldean or Hardy. Hardy writes songs for Morgan and Jason and then one of the greatest songs of Morgan Wallen is Up Down... It's Country but the whole time they're in a yacht getting piss drunk in Florida.... Any way, agree or disagree, Morgan has a gift but @ $650.00 I will never see him.

Meh, I have a dark and twisted mind, so the hints of it being a repetitive situation and him saying there's 'no way it was their last night' came off a bit control freak/stalker- ish to me. I liked the rasp in his voice, though! Just didn't like the song.
