Will it Run? Episode 20: 1953 Ford Customline! Part 2 of 3

Hey! Cold War Motors just thought we should try to get this old Ford Customline to go... It has been sitting around and hasn't been started in probably over 30 years. It's equipped with the famous flathead V8 engine, the final version for the Ford models at 239 cubes.

I picked up this nice old girl last year and I just got to it this summer... It's a pretty decent, savable car with all of its original equipment intact and still wearing its original 2-tone metallic green paint job. Let's get it to go, Stella wants a ride...

In part two here we'll try firing the engine with the rebuilt distributor installed and see what it'll take to make this old flatty purr again...
Part 3 is on the way soon!

Also: There will be at least one, possibly two more installments coming in the Frazer series before we wrap that one up and start on something else old and beat up.

Thanks again to everyone who subscribed to the Coldwarmotors channel; we have a lot of fun doing this stuff and really appreciate that anyone would watch and share it with their friends.
All the best from me and Stella!

My first 7 years of life were spent riding in a 53 Ford Victoria. Listening to that flat engine brings it all back. Thanks guys for saving the past.

That shovel propping up the hood must take second prize for "most Canadian hod prop", just behind an old ice auger...

Cheap entertainment. Typically I about fall out of my chair laughing at you improvisation methods, [shovel holding up the hood] and your wry humor! Thanks for making my day a little happier!

Henry Ford was a genius. So easy to work on these engines.

I don't know why but I had a smile on my face when it roared to life for the first time in decades. That valve was an easy fix...wished it would be always that simple? :)

Nice job guys. Goes to show that with a little know how and persistence the old girl runs again. Like they say "flatheads forever"

I'm in love! Sort of. And I'm normally a Chevy guy. Hard to beat the looks and sound of a '53 Ford with a flat-head and that perfect patina, though. Looking forward to episode 3.

Very nice, hard to kill an old flat head. I love how the majority of the time all of the old stuff fires up no problem. My 79 Thunderbird sat for 15 years before I got it and it fired up fine, although it ran rough cause the timing chain slipped 2 teeth on the cam
