The fact that she ignored him while he was at the able and spoke like he didnt exist until it was time to bark some orders made me smile heavily when chris said no again and continued eating.

CHRIS: 'It doesn't make any sense"
JULIUS: "Exactly!" 😢😭

If you can stand up to Rochelle, you can stand up to anybody. Simple as that, no one is as ruthless as her.

Looking at this, it actually makes me sad. He's teaching Chris to be an enabler. His mom has a toxic personality and somehow everyone is okay with her abusing her authority. He stood up for himself and called her out, telling her he was done playing her manipulative game.

Aside from being cheap, Julius is actually a good father, he's always been there for Chris whenever he needs him.

Julius in that talk scene, really shows how good of a father he is.

Does nobody else find impressive how Julius actually kept track of how many times he still had to apologize even though he was right??

This is wrong on so many levels. This woman is too irrational. She treats chris like a slave. This was a needless powertrip

The most rational solution would have been for Rochelle to listen to Chris when he says it's unfair for him to hair to do all the work. She was just to egotistical to admit she was wrong and things needed to change. She was on a power trip and it didn't make any sense. I would have stood up for myself as well. Them dishes would have been there until either I moved out or someone else cleaned it. She's being unfair and taking advantage of him because he's the oldest child. The eldest children are not third parents!!

I absolutely hate this mentality. Glad Chris stood up for himself.

*I cried a little when i saw this episode. My mother made me feel the exact way before especially that kitchen scene when he was cooking. Rochelle really struck a nerve with her attitude.*

Among everything this episode really soured me on the entire series. Don't get me wrong, Chris has done a lot that he rightfully faces consequences for. But this episode he literally does nothing wrong. Julius (who is a great parental figure in other episodes) advises him to just roll over and take it, despite admitting that his own son had a point. Rochelle is her usually self with her obnoxious levels turned set to max and even comes clean that she doesn't have a valid reason beyond "because I said so". She pushes his buttons just because and stubbornly refuses to even consider that all Chris wanted was some help. Then the episode ends with nothing resolved and Julius repeating the same thing from the beginning. Like I said there are tons of times where Chris gets what's coming to him, this isn't one of them.

I’m glad this show was around when I was younger. Didn’t make me feel alone knowing I had to deal w a power trip narcissist mother, and other people dealt w it too

This show was really teaching life lessons while making us cry laughing. Definitely one of the most respectable sitcoms.

Moral of the story:
1. Pick your battles
2. Women don't make sense

You don't ever apologize to make another person feel better off their own improper or incorrections. They need to learn they aren't symbolic to perfection while also taking a dose of humbling by reanalyzing the situation and asking themselves did they do something wrong as their left alone and no one is backing their selfish behavior. Without it your empowering them to maintain an heir of empowerment based off weak people fearing another's rejections or ridicule. Even when they are in fact wrong. Lying to a woman just to keep and establish peace doesn't make you a man in fact it makes you much lesser than a opposite; a weak woman.
