The factory horsepower numbers were all understated by the manufacturers for insurance purposes. The LS6 was closer to 500and the 426 Hemi was about 475

The HEMI Charger and BOSS Mustang were the true beasts with Horse Power more in the mid to upper 500s. The Chevelle may have had the highest Advertised Horse Power but didn't come close to the Ford or Dodge.
