Hurricane Milton upgraded to Category 5 as storm approaches devastated remains from Helene

Just ten days after Hurricane Helene unleased devastating damage across Florida and parts of North Carolina leaving hundreds dead, Hurricane Milton has been upgraded to a category 5 and is likely to make landfall across the same areas impacted by Helene.

WGN's Pat Elwood breaks down preparation efforts and what local residents expect ahead of the storm.

If you are expecting storm damage from Milton, think about Speaker Mike Johnson refusing to call back the House to work on getting aid to victims of Hurricane Helene. Why would you vote for the party whose presidential candidate said, "I don't care about you. I only want your vote. "

Just leave while you can do so calmly. Get out of the way of the hurricane. And then return when it's over. There's nothing you can do to stop it or save your property. Safety first.
