There are often positions in chess where we would think that one side could never lose. Such was the position between Hans Niemann and Manuel Petrosyan where the former was a pawn up in a knight endgame. But sometimes over pressing can have fatal consequences! Sacrifising the knight from Niemann was brilliant, but for some reason he went back to e4 with the king, instead Ke6 would have been a winning pawn endgame for him. For example 1.Ke6 Kd4 2.f7 Nxf7 3.Kxf7 Ke4 4.Kg6 Kf4 5.Kf5 and white wins.

In general Niemann plays very well. He made quite a few serious mistakes in this tournament in winning positions. It seems he is under pressure, especially when everyone gathers and watches his game. I hope he will prove himself in the future as he is clearly a strong player despite accusations (We would probably never know when he cheated and when didn't). He learned his lesson, he has a talent, it would be pity to waste it.
