Difference Between Developer Key and Object Key

In this video, we are looking at the difference between the developer key and the object key. A developer key is required when you want to develop a custom program custom table, custom function module or any other custom elements in SAP System.

The Developer key is tied to the user ID and installation Number. This number is got from the Service marketplace by registering the User ID. The license cost for the Developer key very expensive and you have to use it very carefully. The best way to identify the developers in the system is by looking at the devaccess table. This table stores all the developer key in the System.

When the object key is created when you try to change the SAP object. You have to also register the object in the Service marketplace. This way sap can track your object changes and alert you when you upgrade the SAP System.
