Welcome to the Trick Shift Garage! In this video, we are replacing the exhaust manifold on our 2007 Altima 2.5 Liter. This video provides a step-by-step guide, showing the tools and torque specifications used to completely remove and install the exhaust manifold.

We did have trouble with the hardware that came with the new exhaust manifold so we will not recommend the company we got it from. However, we will provide an exhaust manifold that has great reviews on Amazon below!

If you have the stock exhaust manifold from the factory, the nuts that go with the studs for the catalytic converter are 16 mm. Mine was already an aftermarket replacement which is why I used 17 mm for mine. Just heads up! 😎

Yo trick I just put on a new exhaust manifold. Hopefully it gets rid of my P0420 code but at least she's running. I had very little prior experience but just followed your video step by step. Really appreciate it. If it works it'll save 1300 bucks

Why did you replace the exhaust manifold after just 1.5 years if you had no exhaust leaks or check engine light?

The heat shields are missing. Not needed?

Awesome video. Super thorough and great shots. Was there a reason for changing the manifold?

Good video. Mine has had a code p0420 for a while now. It sounds like the upstream cat (the one you replaced). Heard its another common problem with this generation of altimas.

One point I would emphasize is that if you try to use a regular socket wrench to loosen the belt tensioner, it won't fit in there (unless you have an extremely low-profile type of socket wrench that might fit). The socket sticks out too much and the wrench won't be able to fit between the nut and the metal of the auto body. You'll probably have to use a wrench that has a box-end (like the one you used in the video) or one with an open end, or even better, the official belt tensioner release tool from Nissan. There's also a generic belt tensioner release tool you can borrow from Advance Auto, but I've found it a bit difficult to work with, although it seems to work ok if you stick it in from the top under the hood instead of going in through the side opening.

If I recall correctly, Nissan started advising people to just not install the the exhaust hanger because it tends to come loose and rattle, and you don't really need it. Some aftermarket manifolds don't even have the stud hole for it.

My aftermarket cat also didn't come with the replacement nut and washers, but instead came with a couple of little split washers that didn't make any sense. I ended up going in circles with the Chinese company over and over again about that. They kept sending me a link to an installation video that didn't even show that part.

I also ended up reusing the old washers etc from the original exhaust hanger.

I have spent 3 days doing this and have to constantly go back 10 seconds and have probably watched 500 ads, hope you at least got some money for that

My manifold studs wouldn't go in the right way either, but I was able to force them in with a device made for removing broken bolts. It took forever though.

question: do i have to take te whole manifold off to replace just the gasket?

I replaced my manifold cat like in the video. Passed SMOG all is good. 6 Months later 2011 Altima stutters when pressing accelerator. Dealer tells me the Cat is clogged. Told them it`s been replaced with NEW Cat 6 months ago. They asked which one? So is there another CAT towards the rear. I thought that`s a Resonator. But I see some Auto Parts say it`s a Rear Catalytic Converter. How many is there?
