I bought my Nissan Altima Sport Coupe 3.5 brand new in 2008 and I've never had any issues with it. I've had 4 brand new cars since that time as second/third car and they've all had issues at some point or another. My Nissan is my most reliable car that I have. I do all of my own maintenance on it and it hasn't blown up yet. Hopefully others have had the same experience.

EDIT: Was involved in an accident last week (4/16/2024) a drunk lady T-boned my car running a red light and totaled it. I'm devastated about it however, I had 16 good years with that car. Just bought a 2002 Toyota Camry with 92, 000 miles in excellent condition for $4, 800. Will always miss my Altima RIP...

I had a 2008 3.5 and absolutely loved it. Traded it in for a 2009 370Z. I really love the Z but miss the Altima. I could drive the Altima all year (Midwest) and the Z sits in storage.

I just bought a 2008 with 190, 000 from a junkyard for dirt cheap! The dash is sticky, but the rest of the car is amazing! It had been involved in an accident, and was missing a headlight and a fender, but the junkyard supplied both to me when I bought the car! It seems to be really tough! Both the engine and trans at 190, 000, but it could be a rare circumstance, but I paid so little for it, that I think I could have the trans rebuilt if I had to. It seems to be a fun little car!

I own a 2012 4 cylinder Altima and I have NEVER experienced any of this. I change my CVT FLUID EVERY 2 TO 3 YEARS regardless of mileage and the transmission is still like new. So much fear mongering with this video.

I have replaced the transmission on every single Nissan Altima I've ever owned I have about 20 Altima transmission in my garage right now I had a lot more but I have recently started taking some to the scrap yard replacing the transmission on the Altima is really easy to do should be able to do it in an hour or so for me I don't spend all the much on a transmission I buy one from the junkyard but there's a catch you only get a transmission from a wrecked Altima because most likely it was running before the accident if it was hit in the rear grate you do not have to reprogram the ECU/PCM/computer on the Altima I believe you have to on the ford focus

I have a 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5 S and never have any problems, It's very reliable. It runs quiet, no creaks, the CVT transmission is very good. I still get 23 miles in the city and 29 on the highway. It still has a new car feel. I plan to keep it for another 10 years. I wouldn't trade it in for a new Tesla. I have never seen a Tesla driver smiling at a charging station. Only on you tube! __ It's rather amusing that those people "who don't know how to drive" consider themselves to authorities on cars.

Nissan used to make reliable vehicles. The Stanza was a great little car. I especially like the 1990-1992 version. So sad, what they've become.

Anyone with an Altima notice your traction control sometimes comes on when idling ? Sometimes when I’m idling in park or drive, traction control pops on and doesn’t go off unless I shut the car off. When it’s on, the engine won’t let me accelerate over 35 mph otherwise the car will start pumping on the breaks. Anyone else had this issue ?

yep CVT is not meant for a v6. for a 4 cylinder maybe. or just get a Toyota with a ASIN CVT with launch gear ( a geared 1st gear, which then switches to the CVT for 2nd gear and upwards)
