Im surprised you didnt mention how various games would also use the blowing into the microphone feature as a game mechanic

This is such a great video. Some corrections though:

Spotpass was just used to send info to the player while they were in sleep mode and connected to the internet. Streetpass Relay points were also used at Nintendo Zones, which used Spotpass to give you the streetpasses of the last few people that visited there.

Minecraft DS could also refer to the various homebrew ports of Minecraft. Somewhat disappointed that you never mentioned them, but it's fine lol I'm just a nerd. Good video regardless

The reason why New Super Mario Bros Walkthrough Part 2 has so many views is simply because it went crazy in the YouTube algorithim around 2009 along with the fact that it featured gameplay from World 7 which most kids couldn't get to because it required taking a canon into World 5 which most kids couldn't figure out how to do.

Noticed a mistake in the first fact. Miis were not only in Japan exclusive DS games. They were also used in Personal Trainer: Walking, which released on DS in Japan, Europe, and The Americas

I’m honestly surprised there’s no The World Ends With You entry here. It’s one of the few RPGs I’ve seen that NEEDS the DS because it’s built with it in mind and uses all of its strengths like it’s touch screen and the dual screens. It’s one of the first games I associate with the console.
But anyways, fantastic video. I learned a lot and awakened some old DS memories.

you saying the pokémon spin-offs are nothing interesting when mystery dungeon and ranger are right there is astounding

7:38 Just a little correction, you can play as Luigi from the very beginning, you just need to do the control combination and that's all

I think MKDS credits screen made me cry as a kid. But also Gary running away made me cry as a kid

really great video! there is definitely a lot more obscure stuff not covered in the iceberg, but it was a good comprehensive look at the iceberg. really glad 999 got mentioned, it's one of my fav games/series ever :')

The DS "Birthday greeting" is a damn fine way of making you think your speakers are going to die when you try to play a videogame on your birthday.

The 3DS is like the most durable thing known to man. My friend has had his for nearly 8 years, and it’s still going strong. He’s been using it regularly the entire time, and has done all manner of things to it. It’s a trooper.

34:38 oh man what a nice and interesting section of the video. Hopefully no one will misinterpret this in a year since the video’s release.

I remember seeing an ad for 999 in a Nintendo Power magazine. The creepy figure in a gas mask gave me nightmares for MONTHS. I really want to play it now...

I like icebergs when the creator doesn't have an irritating voice 👍 I'll be watching all of this

swapnote goes much deeper than your simple explanation. There was alleged predators using the app and targeting children.

Ok, you just unlocked a memory. I kinda got hypnotized by the Mario Kart DS Credit Scene when I was 10. Watched it on repeat because it made me feel highly sad and melancholic and I got addicted. I don't know if it was just me.

As a kid I was going down the stairs with my original DS open, tripped and fell and the top screen snapped off. But before it fully fell off I managed to get into settings and switched the GBA screen to the bottom and it fully functioned as a GBA long after. Didn't break anymore we just got rid of it

There's definitely nothing repetitive about phantom hourglass..

I can't imagine anybody complaining about the Ocean King Temple since it was my favorite part.
It gave the game very good pacing and allowed you to take shortcuts with the new items you acquired from various temples.
It has not aged badly in my opinion.

I'm serious there's nothing wrong with it I really like it as a concept and the way it works
