None of the suggested "solutions" actually apply the "no media" error.
1) If the USB key itself is properly detected, but its internal storage is missing, switching to another USB port won't help.
2) You can't scan the drive for errors if there's no drive to scan in the first place.
3) If you can see the "no media" error, the USB device is enabled already, obviously.
4) You can't change the drive letter of a missing drive, obviously.
5) You can't check a filesystem on a missing drive, obviously.

If it says no media,
1. chkdsk won't work (because windows can't access the disk)
2. the step two also won't work (same as above, because windows can't access the disk)
3. chkdsk won't scan for viruses or malware - total misinformation

this video is totally useless and a lead up to upselling recovery software

For me, it I manage it to work by going to device manager > universal serial bus controller > (Select the USB) > right click > update driver > browser my computer for drivers > let me pick from a list of drivers avaliable on my computer > (select the only one avalible) > click next. It updated my driver and I formated my USB.

Recoverit is the most useless piece of software I have ever seen, not only it is extravagantly expensive, but it doesn't even do half of what ordinary free software does. It doesn't even detect the USB drive let alone being able to scan the damn thing, even windows detects the USB drive and allocates a letter to it, but unable to access it, the cheapest subscription for one year is no less than $70 they must be joking, I won't pay this amount in a million years, I would rather lose all the data than pay them for something tha doesn't even bloody work, talk about greed, so please stop promoting these scams,

Fix That Help me > (Use Diskpart to Assign The Drive Letter).
* Connect the effected USB drive.
* Open CMD as Admin.
* Type ( Diskpart ) then click Enter. Without brackets ( ).
* After that, type ( list volume ) and hit the Enter.
You should be able to see and recognize your effected USB Drive Volume number with No Media status among the other Drive numbers.
Examble of the effected Drive : Volume 7 - Ltr G - Lable empty - Fs empty - Type Removable - Size 0 - Status No Media - Info empty.
* Type ( select volume X ) replace X with the volume number assigned to your drive in the list. ( Examble: Volume 7 ).
You will see ( volume X is the selected volume ).
* Again, Type ( assign letter X ) replace X with the letter that assigned to your drive in the list. ( Examble: Ltr G ).
After completing all these steps, close the Diskpart and remove the usb for 5 sec, then connect it to check if the computer recognizes your USB drive.

Mine isn't even showing a drive letter just "there are no partition on this disk to show"

It's not a USB though it's an old IDE hooked up to hard drive docking station USB. Is there a way for me to collect to files from the drive still?

The no media error means the drive is damaged and none of these software options can do a thing about it. disk manager allows me to change drive letter, but I cannot chkdsk it, it does not show in file explorer, all the USB busses are running just fine. Then at 5:26 it turns into an ad for a data recovery tool.

Hi, I recently bought 2 new 1tb USB sticks. On my desktop windows 10 I use to download movies, music etc. Iv carried out the fat32 file, which went OK. But when I copy any movies across to the USB stick and then try to play them on my tv it comes up with error message file not supported r something n won't play . I no the movie does work as I tested it on a 64gb USB stick. So when I try to move the file/movie back to the 64gb stick it comes up with an error message saying it's curupt . It did use to move the movie across ok but when went to play r check the data in the movie there would be nothing. Can anyone help me please
