While I’m certainly not skilled enough to own a boxfish, I could watch hundreds of hours of footage of them. The way that can just pivot in place in the water is so fascinating to me, and I’ve never seen a species of fish demonstrate so much distinct personality from individuals.

Very informative and interesting video. I don’t keep fish, nor do I plan to, but I truly enjoyed learning about Pablo.

i had a cow fish in the early 1970's, his tank mates were lionfish, clarks clownfish, cleaner wrasse, seahorse, a huge anenome, forceps butterfly, and a male masked crab (corystes, a british native with very long arms). Like pablo my cow fish spat water at me and loved to be lifted up and made quite audiable sounds, always very excited when i entered the room, eating most foods and lived about 4 years till the tank over heated one night.

Did I just hear you compare the death of a boxfish with a fart in an elevator😂😂?

I'm completely obsessed with fresh water puffer fish. I try to read and watch all I can about those little weirdos, and yesterday I remembered that puffers have a close salty relative. The box fishes! Searching up "box fish" in Youtube had your video in the first 5 videos displayed. This video is absolutely fabulous, a practicality perfect mix of entertainment and enducation. I currently lack the skills to set up and maintain a healthy marine tank, but if I ever do, you can be sure I'll get one of these little cardboard boxes with fins.

I have owned a yellow boxfish for 3 months now and i have had no issues. it has never harmed my corals. It will take brine shrimp from my gorgonians. he shares a tank with two clowns, a flame hawk and a starry eyed blenny. great video.

I have a yellow boxfish named Antonio.
He is from far the most interactive fish that I have.
In the first week, he learned to eat in my hand.
If I point my phone to the tank he runs to appear in some photo, sometimes it just gets boring cause it's impossible to take a coral photo without him.

He accepted all food that I offered until today.
I hope that this list could help someone.
Prime Reef Marine Flake Food - Ocean Nutrition
Thera A Regular - New Life Spectrum
Marine Formula - New Life Spectrum
BIONAUTIC FLAKES - Tropical
FD CALANUS - Tropical
Fd Brine Shrimp - TROPICAL - hydrated with brightwell Vitamin M

Here in Brazil it's almost impossible to find frozen food, so I did a homemade a pate recipe with:
shrimp
Squid
salmon
apex
unflavored gelatin
Scott - cod liver oil

I beg to differ on the Box Fish not winning any swimming contest. I lived on Okinawa in the 80's and caught all my aquarium fish out of the ocean, up until I had stumbled upon a beautiful yellow polka dotted Box Fish like yours the hardest fish I had ever caught was Moorish Idol's. That little Box Fish wore my ass out, he was surprisingly fast for having such small fins, but I did get him, I tricked him into swimming into a bundle of dead Staghorn Coral which I netted and brought to the surface. I can't speak to the longevity of the little guy as I gave him to a friend with a much larger tank and don't recall him mentioning it after that.

You earned a sub just for comparing a fish's defence mechanism to a fart in an elevator and a Dutch oven lol

I saw these guys a lot diving and always wondered how they survived being so freaking slow. Thanks for the answer!

I really dont understand how you are capable of dropping rapid fire fart jokes and not crack. I wouldn't have been able to contain myself. Your professionalism is unrivaled 👊👍. Thanks for deciding to put and little more of yourself in these videos.
