Off-Roading the 2017 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk (Binaural Audio)

A few weeks ago I had a chance to drive a huge variety of cars at Road America on track, off-road, and on an autocross course. I always enjoy taking these little Renegade Trailhawks off-road. Although not as capable as their bigger brothers, they're a ton of fun to thread through the course because of their smaller size.

The audio in this video was recorded with in-ear binaural microphones. With headphones or earbuds on, you'll feel like you're sitting in the driver's seat.

I'm also the producer for the Winding Road YouTube Channel:

TheTopher on YouTube is the place where I share my personal automotive adventures. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly test vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive and live with. Most of my videos are filmed from the driver's point-of-view, or POV, with in-ear binaural audio.

Does not have a locking rear diff. Both diffs use a brake based traction control system. The only vehicle in the lineup to use a real locker is the Cherokee trailhawk. It uses a 4.08 gear, which I don't believe is shared by any other car based jeeps. Renegade is still capable. Just wish it had real lockers

The 2016 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk SUV has a recurring power seat problem that prevents the use of the 8-way and lumbar functions. The problem causes the driver seat to freeze and lock into a position on the seat floor tracks. This could create a serious problem in the event of an emergency. The dealer service department is clueless on fixing the problem.

You didn't mention to her that you also rode around in a grim reaper costume on the electric scooter? haha

All ZF 9-speeds should be Aisin 8-speeds. Unpopular opinion here.

Pretty sure this is a Deserthawk and not a Trailhawk.

I have a Renegade Trailhawk, excellent car. Walks on almost all terrains. Lots of comfort. In the mud you need appropriate tires, those that come from the factory do not help.

I really don't like my brother's Renegade. The horrible ride and transmission are my biggest problems with it. Also, at idle it shakes fast food bags and things that are in the passenger seat which I've never seen a brand new car do. It's also very slow, my fusion hybrid is faster and gets double the mpg... Yes it can go off road well, but for our purposes that doesn't matter.

I think I like that vehicle, even though it's not really a Jeep.
