Simon Fraser University - World Pipe Band Championships 2009

Simon Fraser University Pipe Band, under the direction of Pipe Major Terry Lee and Lead Drummer J. Reid Maxwell, playing its medley in the Grade One competition at the World Pipe Band Championships on Glasgow Green on 15 August 2009.

The tunes played are: Cosmos Cascade, The Snuff Wife, The Atholl Highlanders, The Braes of Lochiel, Munlochy Bridge, The Top of Craigvenow, Mrs MacLeod of Raasay, with reprises of The Braes of Locheil and Mrs MacLeod of Raasay.

This outstanding medley and the exceptional piping and drumming of this band in both the March, Strathspey and Reel and the Medley ensured that the band retained the Grade One World Championship.

Well if you asked me, the overall tune selection, sound, playing etc, etc. It was a kick ass performance, well done ladies & gents. I think you all won some sort of prize that day too. Come on now you thumby downers, it was an excellent performance!

I think I hear a bunch of parallel thirds and a few 5ths, maybe even a few sixths. Very pretty!

Yup, a top-shelf, first-rate pipe band. I vote for longer slow-airs. really moving. This is
outstanding... But I guess that's why they're world champs.

Yh i think its because mrs macloed of rassay to me is far slower than that but i'd have enjoyd it more slowed down but i suppose if it would have been slower it would be over the limit

do they realise they don't need to play at lightning speed, too fast and it gets shite, Jimi Hendrix wasent famous for his Speed he was famos for playing Well and also im pretty sure this would've got disqualified being its over 6 mins and its got an msr and a medely

Not as crisp or well thought out since Terry retired. A shame as they had the biggest heart out under him.
