BUTTERFLIES

Feel the tingle within
Make our common sense spin at a whim?
See how joyfully we
Savor all of that glee
And simply are glad to be young and free?

Have a meaningless laugh
Take a relishing breath
Before we‘re left with the knowledge it’s gone
'Cos it won’t stay for long
Even this love of ours ain’t that strong

So when the butterflies have finally died
Hope you‘ll still stay by my side
In this life

Nothing ever can last
It’s all made to rest in the past
Yet we‘re blessed
To indulge in the now
For ain’t it all life’s about?
We need to take what we‘re given
What to feel we‘re allowed
Before everything pales
And eventually goes stale
Once the moment has taken its bow

So let‘s make the butterflies inside survive
For the best part of the time
We‘re alive
