My name is Lucy, I'm a Dutchwoman here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.

On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies, tv shows or history and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!

I really enjoy diving into history to find out how women went about their beauty and dressing rituals in days past. Vintage and history-themed videos are my little passion project.

You'll find a bit of lifestyle content here as well, ranging from cozy chats over a cup of tea (my beloved Tea Time videos) to personal vlogs and home & interior videos.

Enjoy browsing!

Love,
Lucy

I love the tip about "downgrading" your clothes. There's no reason you can't wear your "nice" clothes on the daily, especially since we're not leaving the house a lot due to covid. If it makes you feel good, wear it!

When I was in college, I dressed very ostentatiously and loved it. Bohemian/vintage with bright colors, chunky costume jewelry, and flowers in my hair. Then I started working from home full time and had no reason to dress up or go out. I started living in knit maxi dresses because I didn't like how my body looked anymore.

Fast forward 10 years, and maxi dresses are my signature look. I get custom tailored ones with pockets from eShakti in jewel tones or black and pair them with duster cardigans in the winter. I've even started accessorizing a little bit again, even just at home. My fashion icon is an 80-year-old lady I once met who wore head to toe black, grey hair in a bun, and stunning jewelry. She looked like a queen. She said she had dressed this way since she was in her 20s, and I found that so inspirational. My style feels timeless and personal to me now. Even if I look out of place, I feel like me again.

Extra tip: your style doesn't have to be cohesive! or the same as existing styles

I am in my late twenties and I still dress the same as I was in my late teen, early twenties, and a lot of people told me that I dress too young for my age, I was like WHAT??? All my clothes still fit me, are in good condition and I feel comfortable in them, so I don't understand why do I need to change my entire wardrobe to "dress" my age. It is just so silly.

When this quarantine started i realized that if I kept only wearing my "nice" clothes for social events, they were going to stay in the closet for months, and started wearing them in my daily life and I've been feeling so happy with my style since I made that decision.

My style is something I'll call Or whatever I feel like wearing from day to day. I honestly don't really care what others think. I frequently "over dress" for where I live, and I'm often stared at by people unironically walking around in public wearing literal pajamas or extremely I'll-fitting clothing.

Another tip for the initial wardrobe evaluation that I just read about in Elizabeth Cline's "The Conscious Closet" is to take note of the fabric content of your favorite pieces of clothing (in addition to cut, style, color, etc). Your clothes should *feel* nice and wear well, and knowing the fabrics you like will help a lot with making mindful clothing choices in the future.

I am definitely that person that wears a different style almost every day. I have never really been able to pinpoint a certain style. The only thing that is consistent in my style is that I only wear skirts and dresses. I have had to get over feeling odd being way more dressed up than everyone else. When I get together with my friends, they are all in jeans and t-shirts, while I'm in a nice dressy/casual dress or skirt and top. I don't mind anymore because I love to express myself through my clothing! Thanks for the video!

I love vintage clothing especially around the 30's to 50's mixed with professional/comfortable items. I mostly wear black pants and long maxi skirts with pop of color of tops. I also love wearing hats wide brim or tea parties hat. Love it😍💓💕 most of my vintage clothing I get in thrift shops. Yes I highly agree that I always save my favorite clothing because it is to much but why do I do that? It's been a year since covid-19 they I stopped caring about my appearance and it has a negative effect on my self-esteem. But my mom kicked me back to my senses and I am working out, started a hair growth journey/recovery and I am so much better now. Support system people it helps.😍😊👍

The Lockdown actually helped me find my style more, bc I only wore my new-ish outfits at home so I got used to them and got very comfortable in, so now I'm confident to wear them to 'the outside'

My current style is Historybounding. And not all the same eras. I do love me some late Victorian/Edwardian, but I’m also currently working on an 18th cnsntury working class outfit for daily wear (think outlander season 1 but a bit more neutral). And there’s an 1860s skirt and Garibaldi blouse in my future (though with petticoats, no crinoline).

Basically, any era that appeals, from late medieval, through to Edwardian. That’s about a 500 year span, so I have plenty to choose from. It’s not one cohesive style, but it makes me happy.

I agree that special occasion clothing tends to sit in the closet for too long, but i find there’s value in not wearing my favourite clothes very often, because it makes the days when i do wear my favourites extra special!

This was by far the BEST video on finding your personal style. I really like the recommendation to look at your favorite and least favorite items and really think about why you like/don’t like them. Also about going through and looking for similarities in your pinterest board. As a sidenote, I really love your content. It’s kind of a weird thing to say but you and I look somewhat similar. (My father’s side of the family was Dutch so maybe that’s why). I feel like there aren’t many people who look like me. We both have round faces, smaller foreheads, dark brown hair, hip dips, etc. To see someone who celebrates those features has made it easier for me to love my own body and features. Thank you so much for being such a great positive force. 😊

Love this video idea! A few years ago I decided I wanted to dress like an elven/witchy fairy. I am known to wear full on Arwen waterfall bell sleeve dresses and a flower crown, to pickup my take-out. People who know me expect it and strangers look curious and then usually compliment me. I also wear jeans, t-shirts, and converse when I feel like it.

Thank you so much! I love all the tips and will definitely be using them. Another tip which relates to the ones you said is don't let people pressure you to wear something you don't like or don't feel comfortable wearing. When I was growing up I had my mom, my sister, and my grandmother telling me what I looked good in and what I should wear. I felt uncomfortable and not myself anytime I wore what they told me too. Now that I'm older and out on my own I'm finally starting to find what I like and what feels like me.

"You should wear the stuff that you want to wear most in the situations that you are in most, because that is going to be the majority of your life. There won't be enough special occasions." YES!

Oh, my word, you are so right, you know I have been buying and hoarding fabric for all of the garments I want to make and have been too afraid to make and wear for fear of being judged. I feel foolish that I have not been honest to myself and others for not representing myself accurately in my style. I also now intend to make these garments and wear them on the daily, as I also have very few special occasions to wear them- so, why can't I feel lovely and confident all of the time. I also have different styles that I love, one of which is boho; so sometimes Im a slave to my moods.Great tips Loepsie; many thanks and I watch you avidly.
