These anti-suffragette comics from back then are so funny, because they quite clearly show that childrearing and housework sucks, when they do the role reversal thing.

I'm just wondering, but to what extent did contemporary people (primarily men) connect these more masculine styles of women's dress with queerness? I know they went the whole nine yards on the idea of it being mannish, that it would destroy womanhood and reverse gender roles.

Wasn't also in contrast to poor/"backward"/immigrant women? Wearing shawls and soft outlines was associated with immigrants from the old world. A modern woman wouldn't want to be associated with that. A tailored look was more contemporary and cosmopolitan (read: American and white)
