Firefox has so many browsers based on it, but most of them are redundant and serve no unique purpose. The Mullvad Browser isn't though, so what is it?

Not allowing exceptions to save logins kills the usability what would otherwise be the ideal browser for normal people. It makes Mullvad into a less private Tor Browser instead of a nicely de-bloated, preconfigured Firefox. I don't need a disposable browser tier in between Firefox and Tor. I just want the install/config experience of FF+Arkenfox to be less crap.

I'm running three other forks of Firefox right now and you can't stop me.

Your title is a contradiction in itself.

I tried Mullvad when it first came out and ended up sticking with my current FF+Arkenfox install

Isn't Mullwad also a Firefox fork? If it is, why are you recommending it then?

Just edit the config files of Firefox and import it.

Firefox is maintained by a big company the forks doesn't necessarily understand the code.

I don't see a reason why anyone would need a screenshot tool inside their browser! This does not make any sense to me, because you're supposed to have the screenshot program in your operating system NOT your browser. Another thing that bothers me about certain browsers is they have two listings for the exact same thing in the browser which is kind of redundant to me. If they would remove this unnecessary junk it might make the browser go faster!

Edit: checking the release schedule on LibreWolf and Mulvad browser, the latest LibreWolf release (based on standard Firefox) lagged behind 1 day. The latest Mullvad release (based on Firefox-ESR) lagged behind 2 days. I haven't done an in depth analysis of the two, but it appears that LibreWolf gets updates faster than Mulvad browser.

Also, in my original comment I mentioned Mulvad browser being based on Tor, that was incorrect, it's based on FireFox Extended Release Edition.

Original Comment:

I remember a while back comparing commits on Librewolf and seeing patches delayed 12-48 hrs behind Firefox (can't speak to any other forks, and I heard there was a period LibreWolf lagged behind much more but I don't think it's the case currently). As a fellow Graphene user that's about the time AOSP updates get to me (many other custom ROMs can take weeks or months, Graphene is steller in that regard but any delay isn't perfect).

Are you aware of how quick Mulvad actually implements upstream patches? Being downstream of Tor, which is downstream of Firefox, sounds like there might be a bit of a delay but I'm not sure what it would be.

Also, with Librewolf being updated at a similar speed (or faster in many cases) to custom Android ROMs where you draw the line and what's your thought process behind it?

I don't mean any of this as a gotcha, there's plenty of valid conclusions to draw and no official right answer, just curious to hear thoughts on it.

Mullvad actually can access the Dark Web. The About Config's Network DNS BlockDotOnion is exposed to the user in the Mullvad browser just like it is on Firefox, though of course just like Firefox it still doesn't know how to route things through the onion network like the Tor browser does

Firefox = My primary browser; I used it daily since 2004.

Brave = My secondary browser; I used it whenever I need a Chromium-based browser for websites [especially some online job applications!] that does not work well on Firefox.

Tor = For the dark web.

Mullvad Browser = Undecided.

I wont use mullvad browser for the simple reason that its too secure (like tor), I don't need that kind of security for everyday browsing

Just hardened firefox with some Tor browser configuration such as fingerprinting is good enough for most people, including me
Yes you're data still being tracked, but it's minimalizing the damage and you aren't becoming PARANOID anytime soon

i would use Mullvad just because i dont feel like learning Tor right now and i mostly use the clearnet. Mullvad seems to have a very niche use case that could hinder adoption

I don't understand the pain "you will standout bc there are not many users", how will i standout if it should look as if i use TOR?

To be honest after watching the video I don't really know if this is a recommendation lolz. I did use tor once because my local isp blocked a kdrama website for a bit but stopped when it started working again on chrome.
