Is it safe to take bitter melon extract capsules, 1/2 tsp of Ceylon cinnamon, astaxanthan, and berberine along with my meal to help lower glucose response? I worry that I’m overdoing it. I took berberine for 3 weeks (1 500mg capsule before meals, so 2x a day) I suddenly woke up one day with a swollen face, Especially my lips, then broke out with cold sores all over my mouth which has now been ongoing. I stopped taking berberine (Thorne brand) but I'm still having back to back breakouts. I hadn't had a cold sore in over 12 years, now it won't stop. Do you think I'm allergic or is it because its anti viral? I felt like the berberine was helping but I can't live like this. Thanks Mike.
