I LOVE the symbolism of the shadows. Crowsongs parents each have their own trauma that gave crowsong her own, more intense trauma. Amazing PMV!!

Weepingwind’s little marking is the same color as Crowsong’s primary color in this—unlike Raveneye, that has nothing to relate him to Crowsong at all. Both Weepingwind and Raveneye have eyes that can’t quite be seen; both probably because Crowsong doesn’t understand either of them and why they did what they did, and because the eyes are “a window to the soul”, and both refused to be vulnerable around Crowsong.

Raveneye is also looking straight ahead and to the side, contrasting Weepingwing looking down and partially having her back faced to the audience/Crowsong. Weepingwind looks like she’s actively avoiding acknowledging her daughter, while Raveneye looks like he’s too focused on something else to even consider acknowledging her.

Then there’s the way that Raveneye’s shadow covers Weepingwind, which I just thought was a neat thing to note regarding their dynamic. Obvious affection, but Raveneye is still himself and more than likely exerting more control than necessary over Weepingwind regardless.

Then we get to my favorite shot with little Crowkit in her parent’s shadows. Weepingwind has her head ducked like she’s ashamed, while Raveneye is once again focused straight ahead. The contrast between the darkness applied to Crowkit and her bright pelt just adds to it too. Not to mention the pure black shading in the entire video that makes it all the more dramatic.

Crowsong looks so disappointed and sorrowful, poor kitty.

More connections between Crowsong and corvids despite her different appearance from corvids being the reason she was outcasted to begin with. There’s also the first dapples of red.

Now it’s ALL red. Crowsong looks so unsettling too. Like one of those “forgotten warriors” videos. I love this shot sm. Everything is so sharp and crisp and the bright red moon is almost overwhelming, then there’s Crowsong with that solid black covering her face to create even more contrast. I love this shot, holy shit.

So unsettling, I LOVE it. You can also see that her pelt is weighed down and dripped due to the water (mud? I’m not quite sure what exactly it is that she used to darken her pelt) that she covered herself in. She looks completely unhinged, dead set on a single goal.

Then there’s that really close close up at the end, and it’s like you can *feel* Crowsongs desperation and intensity with her last ditch effort to at least be part of the clan. Even if the way she’s doing it is revenge driven. Again, love this pmv sm and it’s def going straight into my folder for animations that motivate me to continue animating.

The artstyle is just so somber, sad, terrifying but at the same time so beautiful. Even more knowing the context of the characters.
And i must say, that final shot of Crowsong's dark face and red eyes gets to you.

I love the symbolism, how crowsong desperately tried to help her clan but was always seen as an outcast, how the red in the scenes was always only seen in her eyes until the end.

Ughhhh Crowsong has such a heartbreaking story with such deep underlying believes and the artstyle you bring it with gives it such a tone that always wants you to see more, understand how they all unravel throughout the story. Great job Louixie, this keeps making me wonder how you do it :O
