Money Minute: How To Get 7X More Done

How I got here…

21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.

Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).

To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.

You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.

Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.

Never quit,

Alex

*FULL DISCLOSURE*
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Alex's teams dedication to change video formats is so cool

My previous CTO did this. He would sit in the part of the office beside the team that had the hardest deadline. Just him sitting there made us work faster. Once the deadline passed he would pack up his laptop and sit at another part of the office for another team.

The second part is the most important... Remove the lower priority shit from their workload and the more important stuff will get done faster. Period.

I actually did the daily meeting this year for the first time with my team. It worked exceptionally well!

Honestly this guy's advice is incredible and I do many of the things that he suggested. I've also found implementing the timer method helps to speed things along when you have a specific task that you're focused on as a group. Like "okay guys we got 20 minutes to take care of this whole problem how do we do it."

I thought you said in a previous video to build a schedule convenient to the customer’s availability to maximize show up rates, why so much conflicting information

My store does this for sales and it seems to work

The thing that universally made my team faster is when the decisions were made right on the spot, because you had the people there who were able to take it. Worst thing is when the people who could take the decisions were completely decoupled and everything took a meeting and another week of debate and we'll get back to you bla bla bla.

now you wasted double the time in meetings

I thought less meetings are better? Or am I missing something? 🤔

I really appreciate you for all your great content. I'd also like to appreciate the fact that you do not discuss politics on your channel. There are many other successful business people who are publicly endorsing a particular candidate for president. I am a Luxury realtor here in Durango and I never bring up politics professionally. It makes me sad when I see other influencers that I otherwise like getting into politics. Thanks for all the great content and focusing on the business!

Actually this doesn’t work for me. I prefer to do the work, not to talk about work every day.

All YouTube Shorts are 1 minute the timer is useless but I understand the viewer retention strategy

sleep every 4 hours and you can do 6 days in one. Seriously, do we even care about math any more?
