Can this $5 action camera compete with a GoPro?

A few months ago I searched for the cheapest action camera (with shipping) that I could find on the whole Internet. After over a month, my cheap action camera finally arrived in a completely mangled box.

This action camera was $5 with $10 shipping, and today we're going to put it against one of the best cameras on the market, the GoPro Hero8. In the video, I refer to the camera as $4, but it was $5. If you find it on Amazon right now it'll probably have a different price.

One thing I legitimately like about the cheap one, is that it gives super authentic retro '90s camcorder vibes. If you told me that stuff had been recorded in 1994, I'd believe it.

The Sports Cam would be fun to keep around for when you’re testing old or retro bikes/equipment. It has a fun old style filming quality to it.

I have a theory that these are just old dead stock cameras that were found in a factory in china, perhaps originally manufactured for a doorbell cam in 2002 and never used. The cameras were then fitted into a crappy plastic housing and sold as an action camera. But even so, it's pretty incredible that you can purchase a video camera (even at this level of quality) for $5 plus shipping.

The “Sports Cam” is great for making videos that look like throwback footage of the past recorded on a VHS recorder. It almost looks like footage from an 80s video recorder. It is useful for that!

The $4 camera feels like it has a scope stuck to the front. And it records like a VHS camcorder. It has a strange charm to it that I like.

The Hero 2! 😍 I have some big time nostalgic love for it, after all it was the camera used to record the best two train hop adventures on YouTube.

Not too keen on super cheap options quite frankly. My DJI action camera 2 serves me just fine.
