The buildup in the briefing was hilarious. We tried to intercept the enemy transports, so they sent guys to intercept our interception, so we sent more guys to intercept the interception of our interception, and so on.

In the Ace Combat series, the "massive dogfight" missions' soundtracks always felt like "intense battle for survival." This feels more like "Monarch's playground."

So I was about to go to bed right before this mission, and then the briefing said that it would be "the biggest furball in history." I've played enough AC games to know that this usually means both one of the funnest missions and one of the best soundtracks. "Ah well, bed can wait one more mission."

Project Wingman delivered in both respects. What a great soundtrack! What a great mission!

When every other mission in the game ends, the allied planes follow a specific path while Hitman squadron forms up on you.

But when Cold War ends, _every_ allied plane forms up on you. There's no verbal acknowledgement, they just unanimously agree that you are the reason this battle was won. Even Kaiser and Stardust form up behind you. Easily one of my favorite small details in the game and it made me feel like a badass.
