My respect for our martial arts brothers, I am a Kenpoist from Venezuela, the Karate Do partner did his kumite well but the Kenpo partner did not develop the combat as it should be, but rather seemed a beginner and does not have the level for that category .

1: That kenpo guy is a complete joke, he isn’t even standing properly

2: Point sparring doesn’t really do any system justice

Conclusion: This isn’t a style vs style match, it’s a practitioner vs practitioner match.

I liked the excellent control and footwork of the WKF man. AK is a self-defense based system. Sparring training varies from school to school. This man hasn't sparred much. Perhaps now he will emphasize it more.

The Kenpo guy didn't fit the kumite rules. He used to do regular sparring.

That is some awful kenpo, there is a lack of confidence, movement and aggression. He has obviously been sparring weakly or little at all.

My brother practiced kenpo. He called it Parker Kenpo but I think it's the same style. He did indeed spar but it was full-contact; the matches didn't just stop once one of the fighters landed a kick or a punch. They even allowed submission holds if I remember correctly.

I practiced American Kenpo for almost 5 years and I find the Kenpo guys efforts to be pretty weak I think I see several degree stripes on his black belt yet he is executing very simple kicks and attacks . Lacking in combinations and attacking from outside of effective range. He keeps using long two step single weapon attacks. Making it easy to get out of the way. Stance wider than typical for American Kenpo. therfore, he gest caught flat footed. . Not the standard I'm used to

Whew! That reverse hand went flying every time he attacked.

A reminder to Kenpo practicioners to train hard and train real; because if you fail someone with a cellphone will use that failure brush to paint your school.

I like that one of the judges is a little kid, who does his job diligently.

I have to agree, I’m a American Kenpo for a long time and don’t see him using any of the basics that most kenpo practitioners don’t do but there are others that do, but he needs to back to using basics.. basics is to the foundation of any art

I'm first dan in kenpo karate, and that kenpo black belt looks like a white belt, his technique sucks!... who gave him that belt!

The karate do practitioner did very well

This is bullshit. I'm a 7th degree black belt in ken po an karate guy would be done already. The guy rep ken po isn't even using ken po techniques. This isn't ken po vs karate it's karate vs impersonator

Kenpo guy looks like he’s very green to sparring. His kicks aren’t very good tbh.

The kenpo Karate guy had a lot of hesitations on his attacks its like he thinks twice right the middle of his attacks

Kenpo kid looked like he’s never fought before. Hard to watch.

You can tell the AKK guy doesn't understand the ruleset, especially if this was WKF rules kumite. The WKF karateka definitely had the advantage, and he had better awareness and being able to get offline of the attack. The kenpoist wasn't using his angles properly, and his timing was WAY off. Now, I would like to see how this would have gone using a WTF, Enshin, Okinawan/Nippon Kempo or Kenpo 5.0 ruleset where the action is continuous.

For those not well versed in the WKF ruleset, takedowns in the form of foot sweeps are allowed, and depending on where he struck, depends on the points. He was getting a lot of successful reverse punches to the body to rack up points, which is the main strategy of the game. And yes, it's a game, not a fight, and they practitioner is a player.

That WKF style is the perfect style of karate to transition to MMA. I came from a Goku background and chose to learn that bounce when I switched to mma. After a few years of integrating it I'm not easy to catch. Turn that reverse punch into a proper straight cross and you're golden
