I haven't really made any addition to my smart home for a couple of years and since Google Home started its back slipping on functionality. I am really excited about the possibility of having Gemini onboard my smart speakers and displays - that really will be revolutionary. (Of course that was the reason Google gave in the first place for withdrawing investment from Google Assistant)

It's pretty feasible to set up your own large language model at home now; Nvidia's Jetson for 250 bucks has enough power and memory to run Ollama as a fallback. So the HA voice device connected to HA to trigger on keywords with an AI fall back is probably pretty nice. I'll be testing setting that up myself.

I have an Aqara door lock with U100 which is great! Directly hooked up to homekit with no hub. I was thinking about getting some water sensors are they any good from Aqara? Do I need a hub? Should I go thread? I am interested in the new products they will be offering and what they have now. I am 100% apple home kit with no hubs currently

Hey Bria the switch bot robot vacuum is a beast. Has so much potential. In contrast I saw a really good deal on a “smart dumb robot vacuum”. It connects with Alexa but doesn’t have lidar (so I assume no room mapping). Do you think those have any place if I can get one really cheap? I’m not even sure how they work without lidar, would be my first robot vacuum.

I can tell you from personal experience that the Shelly Gen 4 solved connectivity issues on my gate, where the Gen 3 couldn't get wifi signal.

question for you - are you big into Home Assistant I have purchased a HA Green but haven’t made the leap into it - would love to see you do a beginner’s guide to getting set up in HA

I have a very stable system with Apple HomeKit and Aqara (m2 Hubs ) and am afraid of breaking it.

I don't really want a fan to be blowing at me. I want it stationary and blowing in a specific direction so air circulates through the room in a more gentle fashion. I do like the way the Dreo fan looks though.
